Sims losing settings Hi! Today when I tried to launch the Sims (seasons), I noticed that it took too long to load, my settings were gone and it showed the neighborhood stories all over again. I launched it again and the same problems rose. I think the Sims think that I install a new expansion pack every time, but I don't. It's terribly annoying, because I can't load any custom content. Please help!!! Thanks in advance. (I will try reinstalling all of the eps all over again if nothing works - oh dear)
That's a new one on me. I'm sure I know what you mean by "settings" ... do you mean your saved games have gone? I'm afraid that most of us have had to reinstall at some point and have lost all our sims and their generations. It's tough, I know, but on the plus side you get to start over with a clean slate.
No, I mean the options (if I want custom content, if I want the window for the custom content at the beginning, etc.). I've decided to reinstall it and see if the problem goes. PS: nice avatar (taken from real life)
LOL. I was kind of hoping you didn't mean that, but it sounds like you found a bug. My avatar? Yeah, right, in real life I have everything a girl's heart could desire except for the affectionate, balding silver neck-biter ... Well good luck with a reinstall. Please let us know how it goes
I found the problem! I recently changed the default unicode language in my system (because I wanted shockwave to appear properly), but the folder my saves are in is in Greek. So the Sims somehow couldn't find some files, so it started from the beginning each time, as if it was a fresh install (although it had the houses I had created). PS: That means the uninstall wasn't necessary, but I have already done it.
LOL That's one to mark up to experience. We mods have access to to poster's IP addresses ... if I'd checked yours I might have guessed you were in Greece ... not that that would have led me to suspect the correct answer but just maybe it might have have gotten us all thinking along the right lines sooner. Thanks for letting us know how it turned out, anyway.
