What the?!?! Whenever I try to start up my sims 2, the graphics don't work at al. I 've gotten it to work in previous times, but I stopped playing it for, like, 4 or 5 months and it uninstalled itself. When I re-installed it the game showed no signs that it wouldn't work. It only gave me that "crash message" the first time, after that it just continued playing the music and giving me weird graphics. Please help! I love this game! P.S. Why does my avatar thingy say "lurker"?
Your forum title is lurker because you're new. Soon you will becoem a village idiot (LOL) and after that you'll get a nicer and nicer titles the more posts you clock up. Be warned though that we mods are here to set fire to you if you try to spam the forums just to get a new title. On another forum I post in I have graduated from Blathering Buffon to Garrulous Gimp ... I don't think they have any nice titles at all As for your game it sounds as is something quite bad has gone wrong ... possibly with your computer. Does it play other games that demand lots of power from the graphics? Please check the FAQs (link is in my signature) and find out how to post your full system specs, so we can start to sort you out, OK)
What the?!?! Mirelly- Thanx so much for tryin to try and fix my problem! Here are my specs: 1. AMD Athlon (tm)m XP3000+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz 2. 348MB RAM 3. Windows XP Professional 4. I dunno 5. 128 MB (I think) 6. DirectX 9.0C (4.09.0000.0904) 7. I'm not really sure... either Plug and Play monitor or 1024x768 (32 bit)(60Hz) 8. 6.14.001.9371 10/22/2006 9. Sims 2 Holiday Edition 10. Whenever I try to start the game up, I get messed up graphics and sort of jumpy music. After a minute, the music sraightens up, but the graphics either stop completely and the screen starts to flash, there's just ablue screen and the Sims mouse arrow, or the graphics are just a bung of colorful squares. P.S. WooHoo! I'm a traveller!!!
Chances are that your video card (which you didn't know) is an older onboard one based on your RAM (which normally would be in multiples of 256, not an odd number like 348mb. The number being less than 512 could mean that your video card is a nonT&L one which is using part of the system RAM to control it.) Also, this seems to be a continuation of another discussion. In the future please continue to use the original one (since Mirelly has probably been watching the other thread.) If I can find your other thread, I'll merge this one with it, so that she can find it more easily.
Yeah. I am merging this with the original question. Becca see the FAQ again. I have upgraded the instructions with pictures http://forums.worldsims.net/showpost.php?p=94222&postcount=2
