How do I get the stock house back? Ok well, I accidentally bulldozed instead of put in the houses bin a stock house that came with the game. How do I get it back without uninstalling the game? If that's not possible, then how do I uninstall the game without deleting all my hard work with my other family ( 2 families actually )? And I have no mods installed, I just started playing it yesterday.
LOL I like a challenge. If you want to recover a house from a premade 'hood that is not otherwise in the bin of houses there is a way. (It may not be the best way but this is how I would do it.) Don't miss out any steps or you will blow up your game! Find the folder named: My_Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Right click on it and choose: Rename Rename the folder Original Start the game. It may take a little longer than usual because it will have to make new neigborhoods because it won't be able to find the ones that were (and still are) in the folder you changed the name of to "Original" When the game is running find the house you want. If there are any sims living in it, move those sim out. Don't worry about where they are going, just make sure the house is empty. When the house is empty, click on it in the neighborhood screen and choose the option "package lot" and when prompted, choose the option: "package to file". Exit from the game and open My Computer and find the folder:My_Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Packaged Lots Find the packaged lot you just made and right click on it and choose "copy". Then go to your desktop and right click on the desktop and choose "paste" Go back to My Computer and delete the folder named: My_Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Now find the original file that you renamed: My_Documents\EA Games\original and rename it back to The Sims 2 (the capital letters and spaces are very important!!) Before you restart the game look on your desktop for the packaged lot and double click it. Body Shop Installer will open after a short pause and ask if you want to install the "custom content". Agree that you do. Start up the game and the house will now be available in the houses bin to plop down for sims to buy.
