Social Worker Pains I am having serious troubles with the social workers in this game...Has the sensitivity increased for their appearance? Every time I turn around they are at my door taking my kids away, I get about 1 in 7-8 kids to teenager. Or is there a way to disable them? please help
Don't worry, muffin-tacos is here to help :winks:. Hah. OK, so what I personally do to all these good-for-nothing social workers is to use the moveObjects on cheat. Select the social worker and then click Delete and tadaa! No more social worker to bug your family -- for a while at least. Works every time. But don't just delete the car and leave the social worker 'cos she'll take your younguns and evaperate with them into thin air :shocked:! ...or something along those lines anyway My advise: use the cheat and delete their sorry arses (and the car)! I thought when the social worker pulled up it greyed out the buy mode and build mode options? I don't see how this would work. We've all had these problems. Mom and Dad goes to work, when they pull out, OH NO! I FORGOT TO HIRE A NANNY! and the social worker pulls up and you punch yourself for being moronic. So hire a nanny, call her up under services and ask her to track your schedule so she can come while momma and dad are gone. Or you can hire her "just for now," 'Gives mommy and daddy some alone time.
Ah, thanks for reminding me Jazz I was thinking of a different situation. My bad. Maybe you could try to lock your kiddies in a room without a door and then maybe the social worker can't get in? Just a thought though... Probably won't work 'cos those social workers have scary powers...
Exit without saving and then hire a nanny next time. I even had a kid hire her own nanny, but the game said her twin brother was in danger ... sigh. It happens to the best of us. You just have to be vigilant.
I think maxis figured out all of the cheats people were using to get rid of social workers in sims 1 and made them ineffective for the sims 2. I usually quit without saving as I get attatched to all of my lil ones, especially after that 3 day pregnancy stage !
i never get visits from the social worker even when it threatens to after them not going to school or not doing homework they nearly came once but i had the child call the nanny oh and the other time the mother had died so what can you do? lol
I've never had a social worker take away a child either. I've been warned, but it's never happened. I don't think it's a huge problem, to be honest. Not like in Sims 1 where the parents would go to sleep and everything would fast forward, the kid would start crying and the social worker would turn up before you could slow things down to get the parents out of bed to feed it. THAT was just awful...man, I had some long nights in that game. LOL! In Sims2, just hire the nanny so that they turn up automatically when one of the parents is at work and don't send both parents out of the house at the same time if there is a kid in the house. If they're a single parent...then too bad for them, they just don't get to date or go have fun unless you hire a nanny first (just like real life) and make homework a priority. It's really not that difficult. Cass.
Other than a series of glitches in my first hood that caused my sims' kids to be confiscated, the only time I've had the social worker is when I wanted them to come. Otherwise, I've only had the threats ... sometimes my sims will remind me there's no one home but them and refuse to leave. And once or twice they've been late for work because they had to wait for the other adults to get home first. (Thank goodness for cars.) Like you said, just like real life. When I move into a new house I have my sims drive all the kids to school right away so they don't miss a day. Even if they're late it counts. One of the other big advantages to having a car. That way they can keep getting into platinum mood from all those A+ report cards.
