what's your favorite book?? hi all! i just love to read and i'd like to know what are your favorites books ... My favorites books are: Lord of the Rings His dark materials - Philip Pullman Cosmos - Carl Sagan (everyone should read this one) and i also like all the books from Jostein Gaarder, they change the way i see the world now i'm reading The Chronicles of Narnia and i'm loving so what are your favorites books???
I love to read aswell! Sometimes i prefer reading, because you have the ability to imagine what's going on and imagine all the settings and peoples appearances for yourself. My fav books are: Sophie Kinsella - Can you keep a secret? Dave Pelzer - A Child called It and all the Harry Potter books
Pride and Prejudice and Emma, both by Jane Austen. She understood people, and her dialog is amazing. Little, Big by John Crowley. Fairies in a modern setting, but so much more than that. His writing is magic. The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, because they make me laugh. Possession, by A.S. Byatt. What a writer. The Harry Potter series, of course. We live and breathe them at our house, thanks to the audio recordings by Jim Dale. The Mr. Putter and Tabby series, by Cynthia Rylant. Yes, they're kid's books, but I defy you to be in a bad mood after reading one. Bellwether, by Connie Willis. Possibly the funniest book I have ever read.
I love to read kid's books it's really funny to read books with lots of beutifull pictures and funny stories LOL
You should check them out. There are more than a dozen of them. They're all about an old man and his elderly cat and their adventures. They're sweet and gentle and extremely funny. The illustrations are great. Mr. Putter and Tabby Pick the Pears is possibly my favorite, though it would be hard to choose.
yeah i've seen the books in Amazon perhaps i will buy one but not for now because i already have a new book in mind and i need to save some money to buy it lol
I have a reputation at home of being a real bookworm. I love love loooove reading! Well, at least if it's a good book  My all time favourite has GOT to be the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness by Michelle Paver. There are 3 books out so far (Wolf Brother is the 1st book, Spirit Walker the second and Soul Eater the third - I believe that there will be 6 books in total) and I love them all to bits. Has anybody else read the books?
I'm going to write the blog of Spirit Walker here. *clears throat* "A cry echoed through the Forest. He froze. It was not the yowl of a vixen, or a lynx seeking a mate. It was a man. Or something that had once been a man. With a creeping sence of dread, Torak watched the light between the trees begin to fail... Torak is a boy apart. A boy who can talk to wolves. A boy who must vanquish the Soul-Eaters... or die trying. As the Moon of No Dark waxes high, the clans fall prey to a horrifying sickness. Fear stalks the Forest. The very breath of summer seems poisoned. No-one knows the cause - and only Torak can find the cure. His quest takes im across the sea to the musterious islands of the Seal Clan. Here, Torak battles and unseen meace and uncovers a betrayal that will change his life for ever." Sounds pretty good huh?:rambo: The books take place during the Iron Age - if I'm not misstaken. Like I said before, Wolf Brother is the first book in the series and it's probably safest to read that one first other wise things might get a bit confusing for ya. Oh yeah, and in case you were wondering: I couldn't write the blurb of Wolf Brother here because I don't have it in English. Sure, I could have translated it all but why should I do that when I've got the english Spirit Walker right here? :classic:
i'm going to search if there is that book where i live, it sounds great i love fantasy/adventure books in fact i just read this type of books and some astronomy books too
I used to have two extra-large (50 gallon) containers full of books, but lost most of them when I moved. Now I "only" have three or four banana boxes full of them. Romance of the Three Kingdoms, by Luo Guanzhong is My all-time favorite. Honorable Mentions: Rugby For Dummies, by Mathew Brown, Patrick Guthrie, and someone else whose name I can't remember. The Real Frank Zappa Book, by (SUPRISE!)Frank Zappa. Virtually any Calvin & Hobbes book. Black Coffee Blues, Do I Come Here Often?, Smile. You're Traveling, and Get in the Van, by Henry Rollins Last Exit to Brooklyn, by Hubert Selby Jr. National Lampoon's Totally True Facts, by Jason Ward Etiquette for Outlaws, by Rob Cohen and David Wollock
Not sure how I missed this thread the first time around, but now I have a second chance, so here goes... It's an interesting question, beacuase it really depends on what's been happening in my life. Of course, there are the usual faves: Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, Pride and Prejudice, The Three Musketeers, The NAS or NIV...These are books that are on my Permanent Faves List. But a couple that are on my Current Faves List, which may move up to my Permanent Faves List, are a trio of books by Terry Pratchet. They are: - The Wee Free Men - A Hat Full of Sky - Wintersmith They are ESPECIALLY good if you are able to get the adusio version (I got mine from Audible) and can listen to them. They are centered around a young girl named Tiffany Aching, who wants to be a witch when she grows up, but has a sneaking suspicion that with a name like Tiffany, becoming a witch might be a problem... Very fun books!
Honestly; my favorite book of all times is a good classic which we had to read in my freshman college class and I could put down: The Grapes of Wrath. Other favorites include: Little Women, Secret Garden, Anne of Green Gables Series, The Chronicles of Naria, anything by James Patterson, and the entire Left Behind Series.
I like the Chronicles of Narnia too. My favourite books are Katherine by Anya Seton, Marianne Dreams by Catherine Storr, the Flowers in the Attic series by Virginia Andrews and others! I'm a bookworm and I've got a big collection of books. I love children's books too, I've got quite a few due to being a trainee teacher and it's good to have your own personal library.
