    Game freezes when Baby arrives.

Ive tried this twice now, and every time my baby arrives, my game messes up and I cant use the build modes or save.

    Any advice?

Can you tell us a little more.

    Your computer specs (see here)?

    Any expansion packs (which ones?)

Also do you have special event movies enabled?

Finally how long do you wait after the freeze-up starts before giving up? I've had one or two quite long freeze-up lately, but it always gets going again eventually

Here are some comp specs that might help you figure out my problem:

    Operating System: Windows XP Professional
    Manufacturer: Dell
    System Model: Dimension 4600C
BIOS Pheonix ROM BIOS Plus Version 1.10 A07
    Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80Ghz, ~2.8GHz
    Memory: 510MB Ram
    DirectX9.0c

I am not using any expansion packs.

I don't believe I have any videos on.

I don't wait terribly long after it freezes... about 5 min or so.

Try again but when you are getting near to a birth, do a save and the when (if) it freezes leave it for 30 minutes (I'm being serious  )

If you still have to reboot your puter ... never fear ... ;)

Try again but before you load up the same house to play, start up debugging mode, thusly:-

Ctrl + Shift + C then type in

    boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true

(The capitals aren't essential, but they help to see you are tying it exactly. The two spaces ARE essential).

You are now in "debug" mode.

If you get any error messages appear, click the "Reset" button and continue until it freezes up.

Each error produces a log file, each of which is are simple text files stored in MY_DOCS/EA_GAMES/THE_SIMS_2/LOGS/

List the logs files by details and order them by date and look through the most recent ones ... usually the first few lines will mention something which cause a light bulb to come on in your head and you'll be able to go back and delete the offending object. If not post back her with a description of what happened.

Does it happen in all houses. Your easiest bet might just be to move the family into a new home. The old one might be too badly "bugged" to be worth fixing. Use a few money cheats if they can't afford to move - it's not cheating if the game has broken and lost your sims money ;)

Hey, thanks for all of the help. I tried it again, and it actually unfrozed after only about 5 minutes. I guess I got lucky.

One thing I learned a few years back, was that if your game ever freezes, it will always start up again after a while (and it can take a long, looong time sometimes). You know, I actually had this problem as well ages ago, when one of my aliens were having twins. I waited and after a while the came started up and I was playing like normal in no time. :classic:

    Glad for ya, Bleepin. :D

Good stuff, muffin. I've seen mentions of waits of hours for some (other) games with problems. That seems silly or just overly optimistic ... I don't know, which. ;) But a simple freeze is just Microsoft's way of telling you to go and have a glass of water, take a pee and maybe even empty/load the dishwasher, washing machine, do some homework, or whatever it was you were avoiding doing while you were happy playing on your li'l puter.

Yupp, that's right Mirelly. But Microsoft can tell me to go do something else, at the most inconvenient times. :gnasher:

But thank goodness my PC doesn't freeze regularly (like some comps seem to do)!
