Yeah but there's lots about how to ask for help, what information to give etc. Run a dxdiag (clicky) and maybe we'll see something to help ya with. Are you saying that the EA splash screen freezes in mid twirl?

    4)free space: 214 GB(230,049,525,760 bytes)
    5)total hard disk space: 232.6 GB(250,048,479,232 bytes)

9)approx. total video memory: 128.0 MB
10)game detail: the sims 2 CD, no expansion packs
11)problem: i try to open the game, and that screen pops up the exact same as the picture in the first post(like this [IMG]). i tried it 3 times and the same thing happened each time. i saw a blue screen and then that screen and it froze there. i don't know if it makes any difference, but i haven't run the sims for at least a month, and that time i didn't have any problems.

any help would be great, thank you!!!

    Oh, ah, shoot.

I'm thinking this is a CD drive error kinda thing.

See if you can browse the game disc from My Computer ... y'know like see what's on it ....
