    Advice sought on new lot.

Evening, just a query, does anyone have some advice for making a completely custom lot. I am referring to everything from Universities to downtown.

    1) What kind of Sim family seems reasonable. I.E. How many families.

    2) How do you make dorms? (If you can)

    3) what kind of local ameniaties do you usually supply?

Many thanks and I do understand that this is quite the undertaking.

Although you are asking about a custom lot, do you mean a custom neighborhood?

    1) one family in one house can work. They meet the townies, have children, are fruitful and multiply. Pretty soon the neighborhood is crowded.

    2) I've never tried to build a dorm. Others here have. Mirelly, for instance.

    3) A general store that sells everything, has a coffee shop and a swimming pool.

I tend to end up with a lot of sims, so I often have cousins/siblings/best friends and their SO's move in together in pairs after graduating from college. That works well because there's always something going on.

    Apartment buildings are fun too.

Make sure if you have sims live together that you have room for new spouses or kids. Kids make the game fun.

And if you're a beginner two sims on a lot is a good number. One gets lonely, though it's doable. If they're a romance sim one sim actually works well because they can, ahem, "entertain" without interference. But two rival romance sims can really be funny ... and they can watch each other's kids. :D

I don't make dorms, but I often just plop a premade house down on campus, at which point it automatically becomes a rental.
