    sims 2 crashing please help!

    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, Sans-serif] heyow .... :(
ok well subject says it all
i have sims 2, uni, open for business, pets, nightlife.
have patched all, tried with and without custom content, reinstalling the game... everything i can think of really! i even followed that guide on wiki... however when nothing prevailed and it came to the questions bout it crashing there was nothing written there on fixing it :(
i have a slight problem with the electricity supply ... im getting a new one VERY soon ... hopefully ^^ could this be the cause of my heartache?
or perhaps it is a diff requirement i am missing? it is a new computer though so i think it is up to date...
it seems to crash once i am in the create-a-sim mode.... sometimes the window saying 'application crashed application will now terminate' but sometimes it doesn't even do that.... it just leaves ... almost as though i exited... :(
please help :( i been trying to find somone/thing to fix it but nothing yet :(

Did you install the EPs in the order that they were released? For example: Uni, NL, OFB, etc.
Did you install them all at the same time or was it Pets (or the game that you installed last) that started causing the crashes?

OK, then that's not causing the problem. I have a few ideas that might help.
    • First make sure that no background programs are running while you're playing the game (like msn).
    • Try just installing TS2. Play the game and see if it's crashing when you're in Create-A-Sim.
    • If it's not, then it's one of the EPs causing the problem. Install them one by one and play them and see which one is causing the crash.
    • If the game is crashing while you're in Create-A-Sim, then it's obviously not one of the EPs causing the crash. I'd take a look at EA's support page. You might find something helpful there. This might point you in the right direction.
    • Also, make sure that your disks are clean.
That's all that I can think of right now. I hope it helps. :classic:

Well, if your other games are crashing as well then I think it's got something to do with your computer. I'm not very good at computers so I don't know how to help you with that. Somebody else more experienced in such things could help you better than me.

I'd recommend that you go directly to the link that I posted in my other post. You'll probably find something helpful there or do a search here on World Sims.

I would say that you graphics card is failing to handle the game. The GeForce 4 series is the least (minimum) for the base game. The chances are that the graphics card is getting too hot. Try playing a very small house (max 3x2 plot - 2 bedrooms/1 bathroom, minimal furniture, as little outside fencing and garden plants as possible - max 2 adults + 1 child or pet).

Load the game after a fresh computer start up from cold (meaning puter has been turned off for an hour or two) and see if it will play the small house and family without crashing.

i have another question... those little 'stuff packs' does it matter what order or where i put them? eg, glamour before uni, holidays after business ect?

I had a similar problem once, where my game crashed at "Replacing Wheel Something-something" and it turned out that it was a bad download causing the problem (mind you, I did a lot of other unnecessary stuff before I found out that it was the download causing the problem.:relieved:) So check your downloads before doing anything extreme like re-installing.

And about that CD, see this link. That might help ya out. :)

I'm not very experienced when it comes to stuff packs, but I'd guess that it doesn't really matter because SPs are different from EPs. Maybe somebody else could answer that question better than me?
