Combining Household Names I have a questions about combining households. I recently moved otu of my current house with my sims, their last name is Dobro. Then I combined them with anotehr household, the Viejo's. Mostly because I wanted their house.. no that was the only reason actually. Anyways, I moved out again and into a new house, with jut my Dobro's but their household name is still Viejo now, even though I moved those otehr people out. I was wondering if there was a way to chagne this, even a cheat or something. Otherwise I know that I could make a new family with the last name of Dobro and move them into a house and then combine the households again, and I imagine that would work. Its not a big deal, but it would be nice for them to say Dobro again. If you have any other solutions please let me know, thanks, MonChoon
Couple of ideas: One solution would be to move out 1 of the adults on their own first. His/her new family name will say the Dobro family. Then move the rest of the family out as one unit. They will still be listed as Viejo's Family even in the sim bin. Now move your single adult back into the house first; then grab the rest of the family from the sim bin and move them in with that individual and you're back to the Dobro family. The only bad thing is that then you have to refurnish the house since everyone left it at one point. Or if you want to move them into a new house anyway....move the Viejo family back in with the Dobro family. Now while playing the house have one of the Dobro adults go to the newspaper and select "find new place" It will ask you if they want to move out and say yes, it will also ask you who you want to move with you. Select all the Dobro's you want to move out with the sim and they will move out but will be listed under the Dobro family name now instead of the Viejo family. Go to the sim bin in the neighborhood and move them into a new house.
I will try that, thanks. My son should be ready for college soon enough, I think that sending him to college is nearly the same as moving him out, right? I was planning on getting him the orphan scholarship so I was going to kill off his parents and ressurect them with the grim reaper phone when he came back. Anyways ill work something out for the household names, hopefully I will be able to keep my items too.
It's kind of a pain, but you can always pack up the items into the Sims backpack...at least the important items, such as aspiration/career rewards, paintings, really expensive things, etc. You would have to pull them back out of the backpack once you've moved back in, but at least you wouldn't lose them altogether...
If you make a lot of money while at college, I think you can also buy expensive stuff, put it in your backpack, and move back home with it. I took a car home that way once. The correct name for a sim backpack should be T.A.R.D.I.S.
