Need Help In Installing In Vista Basic

Dear colleagues and friends, I urgently need help.

I purchased an HP Pavilion a6057d with Core2Duo 1.86Ghz processor, 1Gb Memory, 250Gb SATA HDD, Windows VISTA BASIC, DVD RW, 17 Inch LCD.

I cannot make the Sims2 to work. Installation went through without a glitch but when it's time to click on the game icon, all i see is a pop up box with a big red X in the center.

Please do help, I am getting crazy over this. If someone can help, do email me at : oliverpabilla@gmail.com

I already asked the guys at EA but to no avail. They even tried to refer me to Microsoft and to try to edit User Account Control, via running secpol.msc, but when i tried to do this...WINDOWS VISTA BASIC can't find the **** application.

I am facing a blank wall here..and hope you can help!

Help with the Sims2 and Windows Vista Basic

Guys please do help me. I have problems running The Sims 2 in Windows Vista Basic. My PC is an HP Pavilion a6057d with Intel Core2 Duo 1.86Ghz, 1Gb Memory, 256Mb nVidia 7300 Graphics Card, 250Gb SATA HDD, Windows Vista Basic, DVD RW, and 17 Inch LCD.

I installed the Sims2 without any glitch, but when I ran the program Vista says there is a compatibility problem and asked me to go to Microsoft's website link. Also, I saw a popup with a small red circle and x.

Please do help me on how to run the Sims2

You make it difficult to help you by providing information in dribs and drabs. What about the graphics driver? Update the driver to the latest version possible and please do not post again without a ful dxdiag report as requested several times now. I have given links to the appropriate places to find the information you need to help yourself. I can't do it for you and I can't offer information based on guessing what might be wrong. You may think that what you have done so far is obvious and doesn't require the tedious and time-wasting effort of typing it out for all to see but you are wrong. I cannot know what you have done and what you haven't unless you take the time to tell me.

I will not reply again until I see a full dxdiag report.

LOL Well I did ask. Your driver needs to be updated before further troubleshooting can be performed. Your current driver is date April 26 which is ancientas that was around the time Vista was still escaping into the big wide world. Hopefully the nVidia geeks will have improved their drivers a lot since then.

You need this link: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp (you need Graphics Drivers from the first column, GeForce 7 Series from the second column, the thrid column will depend wether you have the 64 bit version of Vista installed. Your CPU is a 64 bit processor but that means diddly. HP might well have installed the 32 bit Vista cos it'll run faster ... dunno how you check that ... stay tuned, though. If you don't know, someone will and we'll both learn something.
