Can't install University, specs listed... Error says "A problem occurred when trying to transfer the file TSData\Res\3D\Sims08.package " I have tried all the FAQ suggestions and the EA site suggestions for installing. It stops in the exact same place every time. When I tried to copy the 2 disks to a folder on the HD, to install from there, it stopped copying and quoted a " cyclic redundancy error ", whatever that means. Sims2 runs fine for my daughter on this laptop, even though it is an older computer. I also tried updating the NVIDIA driver from their website and it didn't work for some reason. Are we thinking maybe she is lucky to be able to run just Sims2 on it and it may not take any expansion packs? Please say there is hope!!
Rather worrying that the nVidia update didn't work. I'm incline to ask if you are willing to undertake a complete system restore (use the computer manufacter's disc to restore the computer to ex-factory condition. (Make a data disc with any saved neighborhoods that you want to keep (My Docs\Ea Games\The Sims 2\) You would then need to run Windows update to SP2 and and you should then be able upgrade that nVidia driver. After all of which you can reinstall The Sims 2 and then University (don't forget to play test between installs and also to restore your saved games before trying to install University. Frankly the computer is going to really suck at running University
