    Can't Launch Sims 2...please Help!

I just purchased a brand spankin' new Sims 2 game, I'm using a PowerBook G4, MAC OS X 10.4.10, ALL the requirements are in place...When I go to launch the game I get the message that it requires 1MB of free disk space and to free up some memory and re-launch...But I have plenty of free disk space. Does anyone have any advice, solutions, suggestions?

Well, The Sims 2 is really going to push a G4 PowerBook to the limit, though it is possible. (I'm playing on a slightly below specs G4 PowerBook - it can be a bit slow, but it is playable.)

We're going to need your PowerBook's specificacations in order to make a diagnosis. Please post them, and we'll see what we can do.

Same problem - ran fine before OS X 10.4.10

I'm having the same problem. Running a Mac iBook G4 with a 1.07 GHz processor, 768 MB DDR SDRAM and Mac OS X 10.4.10.
The thing is, it ran fine on this computer until the system update to 10.4.10 (yes, even with the 1.07 GHz processor). Now it won't launch at all.
Did a clean install of the game, restarted the computer, and still no luck. Help!

I am having the exact same problem -it won't launch at all. I have a gig of ram and a faster proccessor than you. I think it has something to do with the OS being updated to 10.4.10. When you update a version, 10.5 comes after 10.4.9. You could make 10.4.91 or 10.4.9b, but 10.4.10 may be considered the same as 10.4.1 to some programs. I don't understand why Apple made 10.4.10 -well when I get home I will reinstall OS X tiger and see if more of my programs work with 10.4.5

I'm having the same "free up some disc space" problem. I have a brand new 2.16 GHz MacBook, with 200GBs of space! I can't remember the exact specs, but even so. This computer should be able to play the game. Help!

I found out what's wrong! I called tech support, and a really nice guy helped me out. Hopefully this has been your problem, because it can be easily remedied:

Instead of double-clicking the Sims 2 CD/DVD icon on the desktop, and then clicking the Sims 2 folder, and then clicking the Sims 2 icon within that folder, do this:

With the Sims 2 game in (of course), go to the hardrive icon on your desktop. Then open up applications. There should be a Sims 2 folder there. Double click the folder, and then double click the Sims 2 icon. This should solve the problem

I'm not sure why trying to access the game directly from the CD doesn't work, but it doesn't. You must access it from the hard drive. Hope this helps! If you guys have any other questions, there's an ASPYR tech support number on one of the last few pages of the informational booklet that comes with the game. I waited less than a minute for a rep to get on the phone and help me, so I'm sure they can walk through any problems that you might be having, too. Happy gaming!

Thanks for sharing your solution, Lauralicious! I never even thought of that! I have the Simes2 Icon on my doc, and never even thought that others might not!
