Missing terrain I'm not a PC wiz so I haven't a clue how to even approach this matter. I created a new community lot today and everything seemed fine until I tried making a Sim visit the lot. It finishes loading at the blue loading screen but then halts at the supposed end and... well... never finishes loading, lol. So I entered the community lot in build mode and found a small glitch. I have a feeling it's the reason why the lot doesn't load in game play. There's 2 squares of terrain missing... It's just - gone. I tried placing tiles over it but it doesn't work. I can place objects over those missing tiles though (with moveobjects on). And I haven't a clue how those 2 spaces disappeared. I remember not seeing any weird glitches like that at the start of building that lot. I don't think it's cause of my downloads, because I also made another community lot before this one and nothing is wrong with it. (Haven't downloaded anything else since then). Just in case it's cause of my PC. Here are the details: System: Microsoft Windows XP Computer: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @1.86GHz 1.88GHz 1.00GB of RAM Please help.
Have you got the lates patches? And what expansions are you using? Also it looks like you have tiled over your swimming pool.
Patches...? *lostee* Didn't know there are patches for the Sims. ><; I'm using University. And what over my swimming pool? That's the 2 missing squares. So it's see through now, lol. That's why you can see the swimming pool.
It's just a game bug/glitch. You could try removing the pool and see if that fixes it. Sometimes you just have to experiment with building stuff in various permutions of order to get around the bugs that occur. I recently had a house, which would get snow accumulate on the bottom steps of the indoor stairs. There was a roof but it must've had a shingle missing I tried various fixes to stop the snow getting in and in the end, I gave up and put a floor down in the attic. Neither the resident sims, nor I, were bothered by the snow build up in the attic.
I can't find the edit button to edit my post... So sorry about the double post. D; I tried deleting the entire pool and everything else within one square radius to those 2 missing tiles. It didn't make a difference. And the loading error is starting to act up on some of my other lots. ><; The last thing I wanna do is re-install the game or delete all my downloads. :(
I missed the part about the loading error. This may be a hack conflict, but as you mention that the "infection" is spreading it may already be too late. In Sims 2 geek jargon the neighborhood that is beyond repair is called a BFBVFS (Big fiery ball vsible from space). This has happened to all of us at least once. You mention downloads ... the first step you should make now is to download the following items: The hack conflict detector from http://www.simwardrobe.com/ (go to the Sims 2 section then to the programs section and the hack conflict detector. It's a nifty utility that will scan your downloads folder and tell you if have two or more downloads which are conflicting with each other and causing problems. Also get the following safe Pescado hacks (from MATY) for future use ffsdebugger.zip (Buyable object, which fixes oodles of Lot problems without the need for dangerous tampering with cheat codes) stuckobjectremover.zip (Buyable object which can be placed on square that contains a stuck and immovable (and often invisible) game object which is blocking usage of the that square. Note neither of the last 2 itme will help with your current problem, but if you can fix the current loading errors then those items should in your downloads folder and a lot debugger "bought" for every playable lot (and then used) to check for and fix all hidden problems and errors that may causing the game to break down. Like I said, though ... be prepared for the worst.
Thanks heaps. But I scanned and nothing came up. D; I'll try patching it. Will report back. EDIT: No go. I patched it with The Sims 2 and University patch... nothing.
