Cant go upstairs / Colour-changing houses / Colour changing CAF Im encountering a few problems at the moment: The first is that I cannot go upstairs in build or buy mode, I can click the 'level up' button, but the screen wont move up like it used to, all I can see is the very bottom of the second storey. The second is that the walls in the houses are flashing different shades of red and brown, the outside of the houses are normal until I move a family in, then when I go back to the neighbourhood screen the house turns red. The same thing is happening in Create A Family, the background flashes red and brown. I have University, Open For Buisness, Holiday Party Pack, Glamour Life Stuff, Celebration Stuff and Fashion Stuff. And yeah, I have a multitude of custom content... however most of the stuff I had when I only had the original game and everything worked fine then...
Have you tried to mouse wheel up? And also has this always been a problem With flashing walls or just recent?
When I try to move with the mose it just sticks, dosent move up. I can move in any other direction freely though. The problems only started occuring when I installed the Ep's, when I only had the original game verything was fine.

Sorry to say. The problem here is your computer is not up to it when it comes to Processor speed, ram and video memory, for those expansions. Also I have heard that SIS graphics cards do have problems with expansions. I have a 3000 Mhz, 1gb ram and 250m graphics card and even that can run slow at times. You can get a second opinion here. I hope I'm wrong.
Odin is right. XP Pro will be using most of that memory to start with and the game uses alot on its own. The SiS cards are not supported by the game and the processor wouldn't be powerful enough even if you did have a good graphics card. It's time to get a new computer.
You know, that really is amazing, that the game ever ran at all. Is the puter a Compaq? (A lot of their machine had SiS onboard graphics.) As Flamey and Moon have said the specs are way too low for the game ... all the expansions placed much heavier demands on the system resources than the base game ever did. But what is remarkable is that the game installed and ran on a computer which only has half the needed amount of video memory, a tiny amount of RAM.
Its not a Compaq... its a... Comp-Easy? You kow, ive never looked at that before... never heard of it *heh* I guess thats what you get when you buy a $50 computer from your old primary school. Meanwhile, the game itself runs fine, slightly slow, but no where near as slow as the Sims 1 used to, the only problems are the upstairs and red walls/houses/CAS. Peculiar. My brother and his friends are little computer geniuses in the making, i'll pay them with cake to see what they can do with it. Thanks guys.
Haha, as soon as someone invents a contraption that sends baked goods through the modem, i'll send you some cake.
