Options dissapear after about 1 second I bought The Sims 2 for Mac last year, and played for a while, but then I got sick of it and put it away. It's the holidays, so a few days ago I was bored and decided to get it out of it's CD case and play it again. The Sims 2 file was already on my computer, but when I double clicked on it, it said "re-install". So I deleted that file and re-installed it. It all loaded fine until I got into the neighbourhood. The first thing I noticed is that the moving cars were highlighted blue as they moved, and then as I moved the mouse the options appeared for a split second and then dissapeared, and did that every time I moved the mouse. The options were still there, I just couldnt see them, for eg. I looked were the "create family" button was before the options dissapeared, and then clicked on the empty space and it loaded that, and the same problem happened in the create family mode. I then deleted it and re-installed it again, and then AGAIN, and finally wiped the CD clean and did an AntiVirus check, and then re-installed it AGAIN, but it still had the same problem. I'm no Mac expert, but if you have reinstalled the game, did you have any custom content from when you played before that might now be causing problems? Typically reinstalling game does not automatically remove user files such as saved games and downloaded (custom) content. Also have you checked at Aspyr for any patches that you might once have had?
I had that same problem once and it was definitely caused by downloads. If you have them, try removing them in batches until the problem goes away, and then figure out the culprit through process of elimination. Did you completely uninstall before reinstalling? That's the only other thing I can think of that might have caused a problem. By uninstall I mean, using the program's uninstall rather than just deleting it from your hard drive.
I was just wondering, is this probem apparent on all of your user accounts, or is it only in the main account you use? If you only use one account, may I suggest that you make another account and try it there? -John
