As far as I know, Aspyr have not needed to release patches for their versions of The Sims 2. Perhaps you can tell us what your Mac's specs are and if you can turn down graphics settings a little to improve performance. Remember that large lots with lots of rooms and doors and lots of furniture and large families all place added burdens on your hardware. If you're playing with close to the minimum system requirements then you need to consider keeping your games fairly minimal as well. Hope this helps.
