A "bodyshop" for Spore I'd like to see a "demo" come out this year or maybe spring 2006. Like a bodyshop for *SPORE*. So I can practise creating my water, Merd. And my ground-walking, Yokin :spin: exactly like sims2 bodyshop, just for the creatures, in each evolution stage! Like the toddlers and teenagers etc. in sims2! :spin:
would be good if he does. seeing as he did for sims 2, its quite possible he will for spore. Although id imagine thered still be suuuch a loooong wait till that comes out! why do games have to take so long!!
haha we can be really optimistic and hope for "the bodyshop" maybe around new-year. But If it's in the realistc matter it would probobly come out around March I think.. If he even make the bodyshop :spin: And yah, games take a long time to make but at least it's because they want to deliver us the PERFECT game :bouncy: with NO big problems and things that could make the game crash.. *imagine you've been playing spore all day, and you're trough with all the evolutions, then BOOM BANG it crashed and you forgot to save *
aww... When did the bodyshop for Sims2 come out? I remember that one to come maybe 3 or more months before? It must be the same here..
just looked at the dates and the bodyshop came out 5 months before sims 2! 11/05/2004 Bodyshop Available 17/10/2004 Sims 2 Release Date So i may have to revise my estimate (if there is to be a bodyshop for spore) to a few months before spore release!
That's assuming, of course, that their fall '06 release date is the genuine release date. I still have a feeling (though it could easily be wishful thinking), that the game will come out much sooner.
Yay,, so I guess we'll have at least the bodyshop pretty soon.. I hope the maxis/ea gamers have learned from their mistake, so that they don't make those stupid promises like they did with Sims2.. (they kept on for what 2years!! removing the release date, because they weren't ready :grumpy: :grumpy:
well its like... I think Mr. Heat said this... its like what he said, now that it's out there's a big chance people will start making their own crappy clones on this wonderful new type of game. In addition, it looked like the entire game was playable and stable, albeit very sparse when it came to the tools within the editors and UFO scenes, but Will Wright said that they intentionally left a bunch of stuff out and that there's way more stuff to do than we saw in the demo. Taking it even further, let's say they do release it early. Think of the reaction of people: They're all disappointed that they have to wait a year and a quarter, thinking the game is not done, when BAM! All the sudden, Maxis announces that the game will ship in 4 months instead of 14. People will work themselves into a much bigger frenzy about it than if Maxis had said 4 months in the first place. Why? Because they thought they were going to have to wait. Get a person's hopes down so you can throw them a fastball and send their ancicipation soaring through the roof. Now I am not saying this is what Maxis is doing (this tactic actually seems a bit underhanded for a company as good and generally "nice" as Maxis), but it's what makes sense to me. I do hope I'm right on this one, cause that means we won't have to wait to play it.
I actually highly doubt that the game will ship early. It's more likely to ship late. The game may have looked playable in the GDC video, but you have to keep in mind that Will was only showing very specific pieces of the game - and jumping from one stage to another, not playing through the different stages. There are pieces of the game that are playable to a certain extent, but most of what we saw was likely put there, not acheived through gameplay.
I think a more interesting note is that people have things to do with their time and not play an entire video game that most likely would take a minimum of twenty hours to get through that hasn't been released yet in front of hundreds of people in a smelly humid room. Oh but of course. He must not have shown everything because it's not done. I believe you one hundred percent.
Err .. what? I wasn't implying anything sneaky. I didn't say that he didn't show everything because it wasn't done. I just said that, based on the video, you can't really assume anything. And there's really no need to be so rude about it. Just take a deep breath, man.
Well.. I kinda hope they're gonna go for that tacktic.. Cuz I just want the game :bouncy: *** no need to get picky in here, right guys? ***
Actually, you may be right. Half Life 2 did the same thing with their first gameplay video. That hacker guy who stole the beta showed that the gameplay in that video was almost completely scripted. However, Wright acknowledged that he showed only a small fraction of their game, which could imply that most of it is done already, or it could also just mean that its a fraction of what the finished game WILL be. Also, the game didn't appear very "scripted" to me. There were a few pretty handy coincidences (like the spider guy popping in to terrorize the willosaurus), and Will was using some pretty heavy cheating to accelerate game time (Egg laying when the creature is still hungry? Wierd.), the game itself looked like it was running on its own without the help of scripting crutches to hide holes in the game. The engine really seemed to have a mind of its own which you probably wouldn't see in a half-baked product. I think it could go either way, really. You did bring up a really good point, though.
True, true. I don't think anything was out-right faked in what he showed. It was probably set up to a certain extent, though - they probably didn't let the game engine decide what to populate the planets with, etc. From what I've read about the E3 demo, it played out pretty much the same way there, too. Actually, I hope it is almost complete, right now, because they're gonna have a lot of beta testing to do with this game. It's so complex, and there's so much new stuff, that they'll (hopefully) want to have a lot of people spending a lot of time in the game to work out the kinks.
I'm fairly sure that they're already beta testing. Within the company at least, I don't mean a public beta. Either way, you are right. With this much code to handle, this thing is gonna have to be optimized like hell to make sure there are no bugs.
the data base of creatures Yes, finally a game with tremendous potential i cant wait. This game is more than a sim its life from the premordial goo to galactic conquest.(that is if Will puts all the time and effort into it as he did capturing our intrest)But what truly sets it apart is the fact that the very race you created though blood, sweat and tears can be shared with others, using the master sever data base of creatures and races Will has so thoughtfully installed. the very first massivly online sigle player game. This is an ingenius idea, this idea is breaking the mold of today's games. Will you had better not screw this up! :laughing2:
my only real concern is that he put this game forward as a new way to make games, its technologically exciting but i hope that come release date, he hasnt focussed entirely on the technological aspects!
