Oh! So many questions... I've been thinking. These are in no real partilcular order: - Maturity rating + custom skins=? Just a warning, or it could just be my dirty mind  -- some people might create very inappropriate skins on humanoid creatures... What's Maxis going to do about that? - Oh and speaking of humanoid creatures, will we be able to make humans in Spore?! From detailed & realistic to very cartoony? - While in the evolution stage for your species, will it be possible to completely change your species from what it used to be, and have it totally different & unrelated from what it used to be like? (E.g., I used to have a friendly, vegitarian shark and now I suddenly want an evil, carnivorous Tweety Bird. Can I make that happen in one stage of evolution?) - Poisonous plants? Intelligent plants? (Like the Venus Fly Trap, or the Cow Plant from the Sims 2 University...) - Poisonous animals? (Such as some snakes with their venom, skunks & their scents, porcupines and their spikes, etc.) - Sports? Hobbies? Jobs? Specialization of functions? - Pets? Romantic relationships with different species? Slaves? - Will there be a different currency for every species/world/area(s) of world(s)? Will there be currency for your creatures at ALL? Confusing enough?? But wait! There's more: - Hunting? Evolution of methods of hunting/fishing, like fishing rods, bow & arrows, or even guns? - News updates for your species? If so, similar to SimCity's way of updating? (With the little ticker...) - Should the creator first know how birds' wings work in order to create a creature that flies; know how frogs' legs work to create a creature that hops, etc.? Or could a complete idiot figure out how to build and evolve a creature with ease? - Voices? Will pitch depend on the size of the creature? - Puberty? - Hair... will it keep on growing or does it always stay the same length? - Death... grave yards? Ghosts? Revival dances? - Packs, couples, cults, families, friends, enemies... I dunno... Even more questions, added later: - Could creatures evolve naturally, rather than you as the creator taking the time to go through the stages? (Say your creature starts out with a short neck and needs to reach leaves at the top but can't climb up! Is it possible it could eventually grow a longer neck, or do you need to manually change this?) :shy: - Will plants really be necessary if your species is a carnivore? Ran out of questions... Fingers getting tired... :indifferent: I really appreciate you taking your time to read this, whether you answer anything or not.
Umm, I hate to be so unhelpful, but just about every one of your questions has not been touched on so no one really knows. The whole custom skins thing is confirmed, though not like you'd expect. The textures are created using some sort of generator, that you do have control over but you cannot like, upload a skin into the game (as far as we know). Somehow, Maxis will prevent icky stuff from getting through to the Spore database. No one knows how, it's just speculation. It is also unknown as to how much you can change your creature in one evolution stage. The consensus view seems to be that you gain evolution points, and can cash in whenever; the longer you go before you 'level up', the more you can change in one sitting. The hunting aspect is not particularly known, though it is doubtful. You only really do hunting when you are in the evolution stage, after that you are controlling cities and populations, not individual creatures. However, maybe during the tribal stage you would still hunt, I dunno. As to all your other questions, they're unknown. Hopefully in the coming months they will start releasing information on Spore so all of us nice patient Spore lovers will have somethin to keep us busy for a little while, hehe.
A good idea for how much your creature can change would be to have a certain amount of points all over the body: You stretch the back minus 3 points on that area, or fatting the tail minus 4 points, or strecthing the head you get half the size you want but sorry not enough points in that area. So what do you think :spin:
Oops. Hey! I coulda sworn I was logged in. Well, thanks for your answers, guys... I accidentally replied as a guest... :silly:
I doubt that resizing/shaping/molding objects will cost points, but adding parts (legs, arms, feet, etc.) will almost surely cost, assuming it will use a point system. I never really paid too much attention during the video; does there seem to be any point counters/meters anywhere on the screen? It doesn't flat out notify of points being used, and WW didn't mention anything concerning points. It may be useful (to limit overdoing things), but it could be a pain (for example, if you only had enough points for half of what you wanted). I think that the initial creature (when it first becomes 3D, for example) may be whatever you want, and then after that, it costs points to improve, but I really have no idea. If there WAS a point system, it would amost surely have been implemented in the demo that WW showed.
I do not want a point system at all, because I don't want to be limited on how much stuff i can add to my creatures. About the only point system I would like is one that kept you from evolving way too fast, but not one that would limit what you could create.
oops... I meant a plant editor, and intelligent plants. However, it's been ages since I looked at things; so no quoting me.
Apparently, from what I've seen after going over the video a few times, there WON'T be a point system (at least not relating to physical traits) as far as I can see. There may be one in relation to the brain, but even that may just allow one to chose the next level of brain at each evolutionary stage, and not hinder the physical attributes at all. Of course, I have no solid proof of this, but judging from the lack of any evident point system in the demo, and considering what WW said (although his comment of "investing in brain" makes it a bit questionable).
Let's keep in mind that in the reffered video Wright used some kind of "god mod" to skip levels, ears, and places, so that may have affected the CAC (Create-A-Creature :silly: ) Heat
It depends on how the god mode works. In some cases, it's filled up to infinate, so that one never runs out (but if that were the case, there aren't any meters showing the full number of avaliable build points), and in other cases, it just keeps it at infinate from the position that the value is currently at, changing the value but not the meter, but still, there is no indication of points being taken away (as in any meter, notice, noise, etc. which wouldn't be disabled simply by having infinate points).
What i'm trying to say here is that Will used certain cheats that allowed him to do certain things that the "normal" player won't be able to without those cheats, one of the might be those "unlimited points". Heat
OK hey, there might not be a point system for CAC, but somehow I heard or read that there were points... Either from the Pacman stage & used to evolve, or... I think they are used for buying buildings and objects (like fire), or something... I don't know, though. Maybe there will be no points! Is it all based on how evolved your species is? Or how many points you have?
Yep, might be an option, anything would be considered an option right now since it's speculation...so, speculate Heat
Perhapse, but keep in mind they even had sounds/music, so I'm pretty sure they would have finished the gameplay elements before going on to those details.
