More than one person controlling a planet?

I was thinking... An original idea of Spore, I THINK, was that as a player you have your own planet to control, and if your species have/has evolved well enough, you can take over another planet, and then more. What about people sharing a planet, maybe controlling different sections of it? Or a group of people maintaining a group of planets, but not exactly each to their own.

What do you think? Bad idea? Will it be possible? Just wondering. Thanks for taking your time to read this.

Sounds interesting, but it probably only would work well if the 2 species on the planet together were friendly to each other, but I think it would be good if you could do this.

We have to make this point clear: Spore isn't actually a Massive Multi-Player Online Game.

Each player will have his own world, records, planets, creatures, and most importantly his own advance through-out the game, which means you're not sharing the same world.

The planets, creatures, building & veichels might be shared on the net, but they're not actually shared when you play the game from your pc, they just get "copied" to the other guy's pc.

How about having the same thing only with various computer players instead of human players?

From what I understand, it is possible to have more than one species on a planet. What I would like to see is the ability to enslave/occupy other planets a la Master of Orion.
