    Dingy noises

Throughout the GDC video, I heard small 'diiiiing' sort of noises. What are they, and what is their purpose there [if known]?

Hmm..i'm not sure i understand what you're referring to, does it sound like a gameplay sound or is it just...a background sound..?

Well, I can remember right after the Tidepool Stage there was the Tripod as an aquatic reptile. Listen while he's swimming. Isn't there some kind of springy noise in there?

I think they sound when something significant happens (not sure, but I think I saw the status bars move when it made the sound) and also notice they intensified when the aquatic form layed an egg.

And the springy noises are the little 1-legged things hopping around ;)

I think there might be a sort of jingle system like that, wasn't there a special sound when Tripod got on land?

    Uuhm.. One sentance.

    Its Maxis.

:laughing2: There, no doubt, will be funny, quirky little noises that no one will truly understand.

I belive the ding was a signal that the species had layed an egg and was able to evolve.. Or that they may have reached a goal or something.

Although I haven't played TS2 in a while, didn't they have some sort of dinging noise when you reached a goal?
