    Small question

If I were to start a new game, play my species and then stop could I make another species on a different planet and have them eventually meet eachother the same way they were when I saved them in the first place?

Interesting question. But I really shouldn't know. It would be nice though. Looking at the Sims game (where you can switch families) you should assume that this would be possible.

With the size of the game galaxy.. I would suspect it would have you create your new race on another planet in the same galaxy.. So you could eventually end up interacting with your first species.

    But.. its all speculations.

Oh, okay. Thought maybe he said something about it at GDC 06 ( which I didn't see ) Thanks for the help anyhow.

I would go for yes; Why?

The Sims 2 - Families you don't play don't age, Maxis will probably do the same with Spore since it makes sense, what if your tribe/creature developed into something you really didn't want them to become? what if they became too rich/poor, weak/strong or offensive/peaceful? you wouldn't be too hapy would you? and boy does Wright want you to be happy! that way you'll buy the next EP.

I'm half hoping that there will atleast be a little radio button somewhere that when set to 'ON' will allow our other species to advance even while were playing on another species..

I would LOVE to be able to make one species, then make another and watch the second one grow up.. and kind of make adjustments from the outside.

That's kind of what I hoped I could do. However if they could just interact with eachother that would be cool too.

    :laughing2: @ Heat's EP comment

That would definitely be cool. I would imagine that you can create as many species you want to populate the galaxy. At least that is what I am hoping for :)

I think what you are looking for is the Monolith option (tribute to the Space Odyssey series?). A UFO is able to drop a monolith on a planet that will allow a species on that planet to become sentient on its own after a few hours of gameplay. All you have to do is teraform a planet and create a creature that you like, then drop the monolith and fly away. Check back from time to time to see how your creatures are evolving. I even heard that they might end up worshiping you.

It would be cool to pit all your created creatures against each other to see how they would interact according to the procedural programming.

... And of course to see which one would kick the other's but! :bouncy:

I'm going to expand on this..

Heres my opinion on the whole situation now. With a nod to TS2. So, you have your player created families.. and you have NPC characters. I belive that in Spore, the best case scenario would be to have player created species that turn NPC.

Like I would enjoy genetically engineering one species from the cellular level up to say.. creature level. Then setting him free of my control, and watching him develop the rest of the way on his own. That way I have a say in how they start off, and how they will evolve in the future. But I dont need to fully baby sit them.

Or being able to take control of a NPC species and run them as if they were my own, that would be cool too.
