    Planets???

ok i was wondering........when you first start out do you get to pick your planet or does everyone start out on the same planet?? and when you first develope from the little swimmy thing eating dots do you always turn into that crocodile thing like in the demo?? Also, does it cost money to change your creature or is that just for like stuff and building ??? :D

Oh boy... you clearly haven't been paying attention the Spore team.

Spore is massively single player, where no-one is in the same universe, but they share their creations. All the animals are created by players. You all are in different galaxies, let alone planets. You start out on a randomly created planet in a randomly created solar system.

You get to choose what you look like when you first start out. You go into the creature editor, and make whatever you want.

I think there might be this "DNA points" thing that you get from eating other animals but I'm not sure.

You're right, Saim. Will said in one of the many interviews I've seen, that you won't have access to all the parts at first. The more creatures you eat and the more times you mate, the more DNA points you get. With those points, you can buy new stuff for the creature you made.

    Oooooh. Well that's good then.

I don't want it to be possible to make the perfect creature in one go.

Yeah, that would get boring fast, especially since you'd still have to go through all the phases.

Saim's right about the DNA points. Smiliespore, you should really watch the Spore movies, it really tells a lot of the information we already know about Spore.

I never watch any of the Spore movies - all the information I know was picked up through this forum. Lurking out old and new threads I tend to find is a good way to learn things like these. Then again, I still hardly know anything about the game, just a load of floaty vague apparitions of info-bites. A lot of information you guys take for granted is often news to me.

(Edit: Hey, just noticed I got the 1000th post in the Questions forum. Go me.)

Uuhm.. dont pay too much attention to Bonkywop hes a bad example.. lol

You should probably go through the videos that have Will in them, he explains A LOT about what the game will be and what it will not be. And then join the discussions going on around the site here.

Of course a lot of what we do is speculation and guessing games, but there are facts in most of our conversations.

seriosuly bonky, you should just sit down with your coffee and watch all of the Spore videos, you really do learn a lot, that's how we know what we know so far.

Who here, who's seen the videos, doesn't like things about them? I personally love them. The quirky sounds and the music and the.. creatures. SPACE!

Firemaker, I am in love with the videos, I always thought videos were 1-239075091284503847% better than screenshots, however we don't have very many screenshots of the game just yet.

The videos aren't only fun to watch, but they give you info on the game, controlling the game, music of the game and so much more

Thanks for that! I read all the rest of the guide first with my seemingly infinite supply of spare time, and I already feel more educated. No longer do I need this 'bad example' badge! *rips it out, shreads most of shirt and skin* On second thoughts...

But I've only watched one of those videos, not had a look at the others yet. Nevertheless, I feel more knowledgable than before. WORSHIP ME.

*falls to knees* O master of ye olde Spore knowledge (who probably still knows less than the rest of us...)!

True, but I'm still learning, just at my own, occasionally non-existant pace. Been reading features on the game through in magazines and the like, rather than just skimming and passing off "Oh yeah, Spore, I've heard of that, it's that game wot Will Whatsisface created with them there creatures and... stuff" as the extent of my knowledge.

Though I've still not watched those videos...

The only thing I've seen in a magazine on it was in OPM (Official Playstation Magazine). It was in the Game Jealousy section or something like that... The whole article was about the size of a card cut in half though...
