trouble installing Bon Voyage and Pets expansion packs I just bought the Bon Voyage and Pets expansion packs (they're half off at Toys R Us through tomorrow!) When I tried to install the Pets expansion pack, all went smoothly until it told me to insert the second disk. I did, and the installation wouldn't progress any further. It was stuck on like 62 percent. The screen wasn't frozen or anything, but the bar telling me how far along it was wouldn't move anymore. After about a half hour, I tried to remove the disk, and it immediately told me I had to insert it to continue installation. I did, but still nothing happened. Then I finally cancelled the installation and tried again with Bon Voyage. Same thing. It has been sitting at 62 percent for about a half hour and says the current file is TSData\Control\control1.dat. I've never had this issue with any expansion pack before, and I have university, holiday, business, glamour life and seasons. The only thing that's different this time is that I upgraded my RAM recently, going from 500 mbs to 1.5 gigs, but I'd played the game since then with no adverse effects. Any thoughts?
Hmm okay... Toshiba Satellite L25 Intel Celeron processor 1.4 GHz Windows XP home edition, version 2002, service pack 2 1.37 GB of RAM 12.5 GB of free space on C drive (the one I'm installing to) Let me know if you need anything else.
I know...it's a long shot. But does your CD-ROM "double" as a CD/DVD burner by any chance?? Anyhow..you have room enough so just create a temporary folder, go to "My Computer" right-click on the CD drive and go to EXPLORE. Pres CTRL-A to mark all, CTRL-C to copy the content, then open the newly created temp-folder and click CTRL-V for paste (it'll take a while If that process finishes without any errors you can be sure, your CDs are OK. Otherwise contact your retailer and exchange the set since they seem to be defective. Now when it asks for Disk2 during installation, point it to the new folder and have it install from there. (Once the installation went through ok...don't forget to delete that temp folder...to free up your Harddrive good luck -le
Okay...I'm a bit confused. I copied and pasted the files from disk two into a temp folder as you suggested, and ran the first disk. But when it tells me to insert disk two, it only gives me the options of "cancel" or "okay" - there's no way to point it to the temp folder. Is there a file in the temp folder I created that I should click on? I'm a little scared of clicking on the wrong thing and making things even worse.
I'm sorry... I didn't try to confuse you. I just tried to save you some time...and obviously failed terribly. OK...here are EA's Instructions: [/FONT] -le
