    Telecommunications Paper: Help Requested

    Hey everyone :)

If you could take a moment to contribute thoughts or points to my paper, would be great.

I was wondering how has telecommunications impacted your life. What means do you use to communicate (internet, mobiles, phones, etc.)? Radio? TV? Etc.

What are the greatest joys you have about Telecommunications? The biggest irritations? Any thoughts on living without modern communications?

    Opinions appreciated! Thanks :D

I think it's amazing that in less than 150 years, the ability to spread news throughout the world has been shortened from a months-long process to something that needs to be no more complicated than a few keystrokes and the click of a mouse.

I regularly use the internet, TV, and telephone. There is nothing that I adore more than having the ability to communicate with people. Unfortunately, it does get annoying sometimes; I hate bad TV (I don't mean distasteful or off-color TV, though I don't watch it... I mean TV programming like infomercials), and let's not forget the annoying telemarketing calls at dinner.

As much as I love being able to constantly stay connected, I also hate it. 50 years ago, they didn't have cell phones or internet. 350 Channels of TV was unheard of. But they survived all right. In 1969, they were able to go to the moon on a computer about as powerful as a modern scientific calculator. The point is, they did so many things back then that we wouldn't DREAM of doing now. (Mecurochrome, anyone?) Nobody in any normal situation ever died from not being in contact with people. Actually, I think kids 50 years ago may have been better off that way--they learned to use their imaginations. They didn't need to be entertained by computer games or TV stations completely dedicated to cartoons.

By the way, have you noticed that the diagnoses of ADD and ADHD are on the rise? Do you know what the average attention span of a child today is? 8 Minutes. Ironically, the time between the beginning of the average television program and its first commercial break is also 8 minutes. Coincidence? I think not.

    ...Me and Technology. It's a Love/Hate thing. ;)
