C++ Runtime error To begin with, I purchased SimCity Societies from Wal-Mart. During installation, I noticed the installer was installing "Productname", I dunno if this has anything to do with it or not, but it installed to an EA directory... Whenever I attempt to run the program, I get prompted that it caused C++ to quit in an unexpected way and quits out almost immediately. I attempted to patch but it says that the program was installed correctly. I run a Windows XP machine that meets the minimum requirements for the game. Can someone help me?
Install this and see if it helps any. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...ee-a3f9-4c13-9c99-220b62a191ee&displaylang=en

I'm having a very similar, if not the same, issue stated by the origional poster. My version is the Sim City Societies / Destinations disk included in The SimCity Box. Neither Societies or the expansion will load up when I click [Play] on the launch screen. I get the same error message each time in a windows error popup. [Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library] Runtime Error! Program: (File location of Sim City Societies / Destinations) This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. [OK] Then it asks if I want to send Microsoft an error report. I have tried installing both of the above linked programs and neither one helped at all. I have updated my graphics drivers and reinstalled DirectX 9.0C to no avail as well. Installing Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 was no help either (I have a later version I believe, so it won't install). I have restarted after all these steps for good measure. This is a most vexing problem and I sincerly hope someone here can help me. I don't like to think I wasted $40 on a game that, ironically, RAN on this very computer months ago when I borrowed a friend's copy of baseline Sim City Soceties (no patches). System Specs: OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional 2002 (Service Pack 2) Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 @ 2.4GHz Ram: 2GB Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS I will gladly provide further information if it is asked for. Thank you in advanced. Edit: After posting this I remembered reading a remedy to this issue on another forum (the name escapes me) that actually got the game to run for me. The remedy seemed almost nonsensical, but it worked! First, you create a shortcut to run Sim City Societies: Destinations and then you follow the following steps: 1) Right click on the shortcut you created 2) Click [Properties] 3) Under the "Shortcut" tab, add the following text in the "Target" field AFTER the location of the game file (which is in "quotes") "-TheLlamasaysGO". Just like that, with the dash (-), but without the quotes. It will now look like this: "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SimCity Societies\SCSDestinations.exe" -TheLlamasaysGO 4) Apply this change. 5) Exit the menu and double-click on the shortcut you just edited. It will now bypass the launch screen and actually load up the game. I have yet to see how, or if, the game will actually play on my system, but this is a good start. I will report back if any other bugs crop up. On a final note, this bypassing of the launch screen right into the game program seems to point to an issue with the launch screen and at least my computer. Just noting this. Enjoy!
soz for taking so long to reply but that thing didnt help it still comes up with the same error message(the C++ one)
i have same problem but a little diffrent you see i already have programthat u said to download but it says, this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusal way. Please contact the application's support team for more information(ohyes247@hotmail.com)
