Game crashes when both my sims go to work at the same time. Hi! I have a problem when both my sims get picked up by the carpool at the same time (for different jobs). The game crashes every time. The same car comes for both sims even though they work at separate places. Any suggestions? I already used Sims 2 Pack Clean Installer and disabled any questionable downloads. I do have quite a bit of custom downloads, but I usually get them from reputable sites. Help!!
A number of problems might be causing this. 1) A error on the lot (or with the family) 2) A hack conflict to with custom content So first check that it is not occurring with all families. If it is only one house then fixing that house/family might be simplest solution. Get: the ffsdebugger.zip from MATY (yeah it's a hack ... but a safe one It's an object you buy and contains lots of menu options for fixing things that get broken in the game. This link: Hack Descriptions describes how it works. Second you MUST eliminate the possibility that custom content is not causing the problem. Remove the Downloads folder from: My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\ and leave it on the desktop. Now load up the game and the troublesome family. The game will not crash if the family uses custom content which is no longer available. MAKE SURE that you do NOT save the family while testing. If the family gets to work and back home again then you can assume that your Downloads folder contains something which is messing up the game. Exit the game WITHOUT saving and put back a new empty Downloads folder and then cut and paste about half the contents of your removed custom content into the new empty folder. Test the game again. If it still works properly you can regard that half as being OK. Swap the OK half for the other half and try again ... keep repeating this, using half >> quarters >> eighths etc. until you narrow down the suspects to a few. It won't take long. 1000 downloads 500 250 125 64 32 16 8 Six or seven steps to get down to handful. By that time you will likely recognise the names of what's left and have more than just a fair idea of what is giving the trouble.
