Im having problems with my custom neighborhood and the college i added.HELP!! Ihave made a custom neighborhood and added a college to it, only when i tried to make my sim ''move to college'' using the phone or computer it just didn't give me the option, only to apply for scholerships and review them. So i went into the university campus to add them, that worked only when i moved them into their home they didn't grow into young adults and remained teenagers living on the campu, not being able to study or anything. Really puzzled. HELP EXPERTS OUT THERE !! x
First thing to check is for dodgy downloads. Remove all you custom content, by opening: My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\ and right click on the folder called Downloads Choose the option "Cut" The right click on a blank area of your desktop and choose the option "Paste" This will take a while, but when complete try the game again. If that doesn't work (or if you don't have any downloaded custom content ... ) we need to look at game installation problems. Are you using the game as intended (with an original EA disc in the drive?) Have modified the game in any way with thrid party hacks to change the way the game behaves. Some of these are self installing and overwrite the games exe files and unless you have a back up you need to reinstall the game. Have you downloaded the latest patch from EA?

You can still download, just be careful and read the description of what you are downloading, making sure that it doesn't change the gameplay (hacks or global mods are an example). Normal downloads such as walls, floors, skins, objects shouldn't cause an issue such as the one you are experiencing. As for the University Patch, you can pick that up here: http://www.simprograms.com/?page_id=21 or depending on what the latest game you have (I'm assuming you only have the University expansion), select the appropriate patch page on the sidebar menu.
I have The sims bonvoyage and the rest before them , i am downloading a patch for the bon voyage one now, that's loads for your heklp and what does the patch do exactly, also i want to keep most of my downloads do i have to delete them all and start fresh? cheers again
The patch fixes many bugs in the game. You don't have to delete any files, just cut and paste them out of your folder and run the game with no custom content. If the problem isn't fixed, it is more likey an issue with the game itself. If it did fix the problem, then it is one of your downloads and you'll need to copy and paste those files back in (you do this in small amounts then run the game to see if you can pinpoint the bad download).
