Neighbor deals / Money frozen?? I have established a deal, selling power to a Neighbor. But when i save, and load the Neighbor city, after a few game-years. The given city's money doesn't seam to have been effected at all. The above is a serious problem, basically i see no point in playing more then one region, if the stats for the other regions are frozen in time. This is also "creating money out of thin air" so-to-speak, actually i found SC4 quite challenging at first, until i discovered this lack of game-play. It completely made me lose interest in the game, is there any way to solve the problem, any patches i could download?
The money only comes out of the neighbour city's coffers if you actually play that city. There is no facility in Sim City 4 for time to pass in the other cities in a region while you play one of the others. You will find that regional play involves the need to play each city in the region in turn -- say 1-3 years each -- this is because all the various elements that make up the regional economy need to be kept in balance. In practise SC4's economic engine leaves a lot to be desired, but your criticism is not really valid because if the computer could handle simulating the whole region at once there would be no need to load individual cities. (Many players who don't have the luxury of top end computers are even unable to play cities on large maps.) We Sim City fans have our hopes for better realism pinned on the upcoming Cities Unlimited Meanwhile a good source of hacks and mods for SC4 is http://www.simtropolis.com/
Well who is to blame, its just sad to see how miss-informed people are about this matter, because i know that it wouldn't be this way, if EA was more careful about their games. But then again, i guess it would be way to much to expect anything useful from EA. I'm not really up for all that fancy graphics, i want solid game-play, and refuse to accept anything less. I've yet to encounter such a game from EA for years, let alone older games that would actually run without compatibility issues on new computers. Most people know that EA cut down on their budgets, and have lame deadlines. I bet their code is like a turtle walking instead of taking the bus, and that's easy to back up, just compere any EA title, with other so called "Resource Hooks", and see what you get. In most cases, EA will lack behind servel miles. There's no excuse in this case, but bad coding. And any fool in their business should know, that you should never do something half-way, if you either don't have the skill, or cant do it, then don't try to make it. sc3 still has "Issues", even on systems who met the max requirements. Newer systems, (by today's standards), still seam to have trouble rendering big cities. Despite having enough CPU power, and ram to handle cities 10 times as big, if EA had optimized their code that is. I really lack understanding of EAs buisness model, where is the fun in any of their games. What i mean is that, after a few hours of playing around, i usually allways get frustrated about "little-things", usually those things are something that would have been easy to fix, and maybe wouldent require much more then a few hours extra coding. Edit: Not ment as a trolling post, but sigh...
