Old thread.. same problem. DirectX 9.0 and the compatible Graphics cards! Please help

Like everyone else I am getting the same hated message and I have read all the fourms trying to see someone who has the same thing as me hopeing that I could find an answer. and I cannot. So I am making my own hopeing someone still is helping out there hopeing to god I can get an answer..

ERROR:
Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate."

Graphics Card: Radeon X700 series(Omega 3.8.413)
Manufacturer: ATI Technologies INC. (Omega 3.8.413)

What I have done:
I have updated my drivers till they hurt.. I have installed DirectX 9 enough times that I think my computer is going to explode.. maybe im missing something I dont know! Please anything will help. Warning tho.. I AM NOT COMPUTER SUAVEY! (or however you spell it) I know the basics and thats it.. I do not know computer lingo. if you Need ANY info at all I will be happy to give it to you. and would make it easier if you told me how to give it to you the fastest way! (i.e. my computer> C: > Bleh!>) I thank ANYONE at all who can help me!I really didn't wanna bug anyone else with this dumb problem but I have no where else to turn :\ thanks!

 

Sadly, I am not sure if I am right - in fact, I hope I am wrong, but it skips right over your graphics card for supported cards on this page: http://thesims2.ea.com/help/detail.php?help_id=21

If that is the case, it looks like the card won't work with the game.

 

I noticed that too... I hope to everything that you are wrong tho.. it really doesn't make sense why it would skip that.. but I did notice it.. hoping that it was just me missing something.. *sigh* any other ideas?

Would this video card work? and it is better then the one I have correct? sorry, the person who built my computer is not reachable atm. so kind of hard to ask them. Thank you for your help Josh!
