Installation trouble I just got the itch to play The Sims 2 Deluxe version, but when I pop the disk in to install it on a different computer problems begin. The disc folder opens, but it comes up blank. I try to manually install it like the instuctions say with no luck. I can open up the disc from the My Computer menu but it acts like there is nothing in it... I had no problem installing it on my laptop over 6 months ago. The PC that I am trying to put it on has no problem installing and running civ4 and company of hereos. Anyone have any thoughts.
If you are not able to open and browse the disc's contents in My Computer then it would appear that the disc is dirty or damaged. Try cleaning it. If you can see a scratch you can try polishing it out with a little toothpaste on a soft cloth.
"The update process did not complete successfully. Installation will now terminate." I have the Sims 2 DVD and it installs fine. I try to install an expansion pack and everything is fine untill the installation finishes. Then I get that message. I don't know what to do. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the game and cleaned the registry, updated it with the patch. I searched the forums and saw that a few people have had the same problem but I still don't know how to fix it. Can someone please help? Also this problem started after I formatted the hard drive.
