why don't friends age as well? Ok I'm probably asking a stupid stupid question but when you say have a sim thats a teen and has all these friends, then he grows up, do his friends not age and grow up as well? will teen sims in the neighbourhood stay forever as teens etc?
If you have the university ep then you can age them up to go to college. I don't think the freetime ep would age them because they may just assume you have uni and it would be redundant. If you don't have university then you may just be stuck with a glut of teens. In that case I wouldn't allow them to age every time because that would just increase the number of townies you have running around. Ruth
in sims 2, time only affects the sim(s) you're playing on a single lot. when you are playing on one lot (with however many sims), the sims on your lot will age, but the time around the neighborhood freezes, thus making neighborhood sims (and pets) stay at their age as long as you coninue to play that lot. it is possible, however, to make your neighbors age if you play on THEIR lot, or use a cheat or a hack(to make them age easier) that reminds me... the sims 3, they say, have seamless neighborhoods-meaning that wherever you are, your neighbors will age and stuff WITH the sim you're playing.
"that reminds me... the sims 3, they say, have seamless neighborhoods-meaning that wherever you are, your neighbors will age and stuff WITH the sim you're playing." Well that will take some getting used too. But the good thing is that I won't have twins that are in different life stages anymore. I just wonder how that will play out like if you have a pregnant sim in one house but don't play that house for a while. Will they just remain pregnant or will you get a notice that they are giving birth? Will they just not have any life altering experiences unless we are playing that house? I guess these are all questions we'll have to wait to get answered until the game gets closer to release. Ruth
I think this is a question we have all asked when we first started playing Sims. Even now, I catch myself worrying about how many weeds a vegie garden will grow if I abandon a house. I even found myself keeping my college-age teen at home till the last minute so she could help her mother with her twins. Silly me. It's not as if the mother will have to do anything for the twins (unless I play her house) while her daughter is away. Still, it's surreal how time works in the game especially with the community/hobby lots. I find it odd that a couple can cheat, and get caught out, while safely tucked up in bed at night. They wake up in the morning spitting fire at the person they cosied up to all night. Edited to add. One set of my twins aged to teens the other night - is it my luck of the draw or are there more twin pregnancies since Freetime? - anyway the first to age got the choice to age some townie friends one of whom was visiting at the time. The other twin also got the same townie friend in her choices. So I clicked to allow it. The poor townie got aged to a teen one moment, and then an adult the next. Oops. She wandered off into the night with a sad thought bubble about not going to college.
The Freetime expansion pack gives you the option to age friends with your sims beginning with the child going to teen transition. As soon as a sim grows up an option pops up and it includes all of your sim's friends that are in their age range. You can choose any sims friend you want to grow up with you.
