Higher Gas Prices With the rise in gas, how has that affected you? Are you optimizing your driving habits? Cutting back elsewhere? What's higher gas prices done to your bottom line?
Rising gas prices is really bad. And I think it's gonna get worse until we can find a reliable alternative energy source.
Having a job that requires me to drive 8+ hours a day is kind of at odds with saving gas but in our personal cars I drive only 8 blocks to start my route. so I drive the one that gets the 2nd best mileage. I would ride a bike, but my hubby worries when I start so early in the morning so I don't. I also go to the gym that is in the same parking lot that I work out of right after work so I don't make another trip. Having said that, our bus ridership is up, and they try not to schedule too single rider trips. And I tend to stay home once I get home. but I've been doing this since before the prices started going up so much. I shut my eyes when I fill up and thank the Lord that we can do that. Don't make a lot of extra trips.
It's a good thing I can stop at Wal-mart on the way home from work so it saves me a trip going anywhere else. Other than that I pretty much stay home!
Near Well it's a good thing that most of the stores and offices are near my place. The bank is a 3 minute walk, the mall is 5 minutes away. Church is right beside my place. School is a few blocks away. And a pizza store is just right across my place
Actually, there's some good news about gas. The price of a barrel of gas has actually dropped $15 bucks! It really hasn't affected that many gas stations, but our gas station dropped from 3.99 to 3.97!
If you're concerned about the world's oil supply take a read of this. I thought it was interesting. http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/3952
That's why I skate... Haha I don't drive yet soo I guess high gas prices won't affect me yet. (though gas is quite expensive here.. mmm 4.60ish?) =] My transportation is either skateboard, walk, or bus!
Unfortunately, my situation is such that I have the least money in my family, yet I drive the car with the largest V-6 we've got. We have two other cars with inline-4 cylinders, yet, I can't drive them. It's frustrating. My solution? Drive less. The other thing is, since I've got the largest car of all my friends (...it seats six), I'm normally the driver. They're starting to chip in gas money.
