    Freezing after creating a family. BEYOND FRUSTRATED

    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, Sans-serif]Hi
    I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 1525 less than a week ago and got the Sims 2 Double Deluxe along with it. The load times at the title screen and viewing neighborhoods is great probably because i have 4gb of ram in here [IMG]. But as soon as I make a family and go to the next loading screen, the game just freezes up. Sometimes the screen will load to the 3rd row of squares but usually that's all. Only once was I able to successfully create one family, but I didn't really put any work into it. I just clicked finish as soon as I could thinking that if I didnt take too much time, it would work. Anyways, I've had this problem since the beginning of the installation which was just 2 days ago. I can play other premade families that are in the towns but I really want to create my own. I've been looking around lots of forums and no one really has any solutions. Here are my specs:

    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, Sans-serif]I've tried turning down all the graphic settings, run the game in compatibility mode, tried but failed to update the graphic drivers, disabling all the background processes except explorer and taskmgr, and disabling any firewalls but none have worked. I'm really getting frustrated.
    I realize that the Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family could probably be the problem but my brother's computer has the exact same chip but has a Sony Vaio, has only 2 gbs of ram, and his work's fine. Is the problem caused because I bought a Dell?

    Try deleting your two .cache files in your Sims 2 folder.
    Douments>EA Games>Sims 2> and they are at the bottom.

    Also, have you installed any custom content?

    I have had the same problem many many many times before. :mad:
