ok it did install i played it and very frequently it stopped and i controlled alt delete and it started and, i didnt mind that to much but after evolving and it said that my creatures were moving to a new nesting location, i dont know if that means going to the tribal part but as the screen went black i figured the video stopped so i control alt deleted several times waiting about 10 min saw the time and went to bed.... this morning i came back saw the black screen control alt deleted some more and then brought up the task manager it said spore was not responding, so i ended the task from there and tried to start it back up again, an ALERT came up saying Could not find the default preferences The data directory is missing or corrupt. [1004] I clicked of and it looks like it would start but closes off and another ALERT comes up saying Could not find a needed package. The data directory is missing or corrupt. [1004] Suggestions?
With the screen going black, it appears it is driver related. I'm still having troubles locating a decent set of GeForce Go 7300 drivers. In regards to error code 1004...umm.. http://terraspore.com/omnipedia/articles-2/spore-error-messages-and-error-codes-17/ 1004: The game cannot find its data directory. Please reinstall the game. That doesn't sound right...but I suppose reinstall.
um i didnt need the last post but iwould like to thank u for all the suggestions and advice for fixing the problem, i actuallstarted and got all the way to space stage which is taking forever, but anyhow keep up the good work, much respect for all the time u put into the site
