Doesn't this force you to use earphones that have controls on them? Otherwise how would you change songs and adjust volume? It seems well suited to Apple's use all our hardware or use nothing at all.

I have two iPods... An iPod Shuffle is absolutely useless to me. I'll take my iPod's 30 GBs and a screen over an Shuffle anyday.
My other iPod is a Nano. It was okay for a while, but it only had 1GB and I was getting really tired of having to pick what I could put on there. iPod Touches are cool, but I'm fine with the iPod Classic. It holds a lot of music and videos, and that's what MP3 players are for.
