Spore "Has Encountered a Problem" So, I was making a creature, and when I finished and clicked on the green check mark, it crashed. I tried to start Spore again, and while it was loading, it crashed. RSed my comp, crashed while loading... I don't know what else to say, but it's pretty freaking annoying. I have a Windows XP w/ GeForce 7600 and I have all the game video options turned up to max except depth of field. Any suggestions? and thanks in advance.
Try turning them all to low and start from there. Do you know what Nvidia driver you're using? Also if you could post your dxdiag it would help us a bit more. Click start and then click run Type in dxdiag and click ok Let it run and then click "Save All Information" it will ask you where to save it to (i usually click it for my desktop) Once it's done right mouse click it and send to a compressed (zipped) folder attach that to your reply please. It will also tell you (or whoever ) what driver you have . Thank you
Okay have you tried reinstalling a new driver by chance? Is this a laptop? If it is a laptop you'll need to go to Dell's support page and find a new video driver for it there. If it's a pc desktop I would suggest you download the latest driver available for this card 7600 GS. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE NEW 185.85 DRIVER! I've seen where other people have been having problems with this driver, Try this one http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_178.13_whql.html download and save it to your desktop. Go here and download driversweeper http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Driver-Sweeper-(Setup)-download-1655.html Install this once you download it and save it for later, Now follow these steps to do a clean install of your video driver. First off go into the start menu and click all programs/acessories/system tools/system restore and create a restore point. Click start and go to control panel. Clcik system>hardware and then click device manager. Look for display adapters and double click the name of your video card. You will see a tab at the top of the pane marked "driver" Click it and then click uninstall driver. Restart the computer and while the computer is booting up (before the windows xp logo pops up) tap the F8 key several times and click safe mode. Now empty the recycle bin and then click start and go to all programs/acessories/systems tools and you will see the disk cleanup utility . Run that and when it's done run the disk defragmenter utility that you should see in there. Once that's done run driversweeper. You will see boxes next to Nvidia display ,click it and then click clean at the bottom, Once it's done install the new driver and restart the computer and see if it helps.
I noticed that you're Josh's Arch nemesis. Assuming that you have complimentary personalities, I wonder if he's no help at all. Thanks for all the help, I'm off to try what you said.
Ok.... not only did it not help with Spore, but it decreased graphic quality across the board... Any more suggestions??
That's a joke is all about me being Josh's arch nemesis! Do you mean it lowered your graphics for everything?
Josh is evil. What was Spore doing to crash? Was it reporting an error or was your computer freezing up? Your graphics have been lowered for everything including Windows, like switched back to 16bit color? Do another dxdiag to see if the driver installed correctly, this is a reason why I do not uninstall old drivers, it is also useless whenever I have seen it. Also noticed your monitor's max resolution is 1600x1200, you should use that for better picture quality.
As it turns out, Starcraft was only paused. I thought my brother's game had gone completely black and white because of the graphics. However, the screen does vibrate slightly... And yea, it was reporting an error when it crashed.
