Really?? wow i love them ONLY if they are soft. I hate the super hard as rock kind. They must be chewy, and moist
That usually takes the addition of either glucose or high fructose corn syrup. Those stay moist whereas ones made with sucrose or other sweeteners get hard.
Really?! I've never tried using Karo syrup, I just use regular white and brow sugar. I'll try the syrup next time.
Yes, it is. But plain corn syrup is more glucose rather than fructose and you can't live without glucose!
I usually add a bit more butter and cook them slower Keyword is a BIT. not a TON. Just a little bit more than what the receipe calls for
That will help them keep from drying out. Butter is a good thing (unless you have high cholesterol. I do but I cut so far back on other sources of cholesterol so that I can still have real butter on my bread and pancakes.)
I found a really good sugar free maple syrup that I like and it tastes like real maple syrup. I'm not diabetic but I don't care for all the HFCS they put in everything nowadays and if I can avoid it I do. It's from Maple Grove Farms and I get it at Wal-mart. A while back I had a craving for blueberry waffles and this was one of the cheapest brands they carried that wasn't loaded with HFCS and I thought I'd give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it tasted especially for being sugar free.
*GASP*!!! You got that cheap imitation stuff!?!? HOW DARE YOU!!! Maple Syrup must be consumed it its 100% All Amber Form!! not this cheap junk!
