    Pay Sites Galor

Well As most of you have probably figured out, more and more sites are becomming pay sites to help pay for bandwith. People wonder "Why Not Use Ads? I rather look at them than pay" Answer to that is that there are too many sim sites competiting for people to click on their ads.

As a result, there is now a flood of pay sites hitting the Sim Community all to help the owners pay for bandwith and server space.

Although don't mistaken WellDressedSim and The Sims Resource. WellDressedSim still has free downloads although they are limited to size as well as style. The Sims Resource as 100% of all its downloads available but with such a huge catalog, they are charging you to use their search engine to sift through all their items.

In my own personal opinion, I applaud these sites for trying to maintain their opening however more and more pay sites are opening up causing a huge strain on a user who wants to choose a pay site or get a pay subscriptions. It becomes annoying when fees start to stack up. For Example, Assume its $4.00 US every month for one site (Note: Not All sites are $4.00. It is just a close average.)

Therefore, $4.00 US X 5 Sites with Pay Subscriptions = $20.00 US A Month! Multiply that by 12 months and that is $240.00 US A YEAR!!!! I don't know about you but that really puts a pinch on my pocket book.

For those who users who pay for items, they now have to face the biggest question and that is: "Which Pay Subscription?? Undoubtly the user will have a hard time picking which subscription with each site having their own strong points which made them popular in the first place. Moreover, majority of The Sims consumers/players/users are minors and unfortunately they rely on parents to pay for them. However, parents are not that willing to pay for items unless it is a necessity for your own life. Add parents into the factor, you have very intresting image and the most common, and dreaded word in the english language: "NO!!!"

Moreover, its stressful to the user when he has to register 5 Times Minimum. I say minimum because some people may sign up for all 5 sites on yearly subscriptions. But what really bother me is that the user has to goto EACH and EVERY SITE to register or reregister their subscriptions and frankly I don't think they would be pleased in addition to several hunderd methods of payment including Paypal, credit card, check, and so forth.

    To Be Continued....
    ==============================================
At the time of this post, there are currently 5 Website with Pay Subscriptions.

    MalloftheSims
    8thDeadlySim
    SimFreaks
    WellDressedSim
    The Sims Resource

    Pay-Sites

Why should we have to pay for our Sim stuff? I can see them charging stuff if they made the Sims but they didn't Maxis did, I hate paysites! You can get just about everything here at WorldSims or you can get alot at killersims.com those are the only two places other then Sims.com that I download from!

What ever they say, Simsutopia.com will allways support the free simgaming sites :p We along with Worldsims.org will not, and I say will NOT be charging for hosting, object or any services :p I agree with Josh that these sim sites that charge are toally ridiculous. They are charging for property that does not belong to them.

    I disagree with it. :p

I think they got good reasons to ask people to pay for their work. It's their art they're making, all the downloads are property of the site owner or the artist. When costs get up to a few thousand dollars a month, advertising won't pay the bills anymore. If you don't want to pay for the files, then look at another site. If you do want to pay then you can take a membership somewhere. If you really like the site and their stuff, I don't think paying a few bucks a month is much of a hassle. You don't have to pay for every site on the net. Yes, The Sims is by Maxis, but the custom items are by their creators, property of their creators, and so they can either take them offline or sell them.

    Re: Pay Sites Galor

I just recently got back into playing the Sims after an e-mail from JoshManager with a request to use some of my objects that he saw at The Sims Resource.

Imagine my surprise to find that The Sims Resource was initiating a pay site. Especially since some of the artwork on that site is mine! Am I going to start getting a salary? Cool.

I will never pay for a game site. I will continue to look for non-pay sites, such as WorldSims, and contribute my time, effort, and artwork...but not my money!
