Help needed in The Sims: Unleashed

    Hi,
I just bought The Sims: Unleashed about a week ago.
I had been having great fun until 3 days later, after i bought the game.

Apparently, after 3 days i bought it, it became really really slow...
It takes seconds before i can click on an object to make my sims use it etc and seconds to pause the game.
I was wondering if any of you could help me out?
I really love the game real much and would be really glad if a kind soul could help me out.

    Thanks so much!

    Marie ;)

What version of DirectX are you running?

To find this out, goto Start > click Run

Type in dxdiag and click enter

    Tell us what version :)

hmmm I wonder if I should check that too? I just figured mine is running all sorts of sloooooow because I'm 50mhz short of the minimum requirements... :p

I hope you can find out if you've got the version of direct X you need Marie!

    The DirectX version is 7.0
I hope you guys can help me out here..
Oh ya, what has the version got to do with the slowing down?
    Just curious..

    Thanks a billion!

Direct X 7.0 is what i've heard the simmasters recommend Crazy. :) So it shouldn't be that .
How much RAM so you have?

    Umm..what does RAM mean?

Is it possible that my installing of too many of the sim games could have caused the slowing down of it?
Just for your info, i installed The Sims, Livin' Large, House Party and Unleashed..

To end all this slowness, should i reinstall and this time don't install House Party, or is there any other way to end the slowness in the game???

RAM means Random Access Memory, it's the amount of space your computer has to shuffle stuff around in when you're doing something like playing your games. More RAM means it is shuffling bigger chunks of data/game information, so it runs faster!

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling but it might just be your computer is slow for the game. I know MY computer has a good amoung of RAM but is low on mhz, which is the SPEED it shuffles the game info at! I'm 50mhz TOO LOW to play Unleashed!! SO it is VERY slow on my computer and we need a new computer!

I hope you can get your game faster! Be sure to have all the Patches that Maxis released at the Official Sims site, that might help too!

    Hi,

I'm having similar problems(very slow), but my PC has loads of RAM and processor well above the requirements. In particular I have real problems creating a new family without it crashing on me.

I tried to install the HotDate patch but none of them would install (error saying it was the wrong version - but this happened for all the patches I've downloaded).

    Any ideas?

How fast is your Hard disk? RPM wise?

hmmm maybe you could uninstall, then install the first game, download and install any patches for THAT game, and keep installing one at a time, being sure to check for and install patches... that's all I can think of, sorry! Good luck!! :whitekitty:

Ahh, now that could be it. I bought my hard disk second hand, and I'm not sure how fast it is. I was worried more about size than speed when I bought it. So it's true that size isn't what counts!

Well at least I know what ask Santa Claus for now!

    Thanks for your help.

I have DX 8.1 here. 7 is what the sims started out on, it should ALWAYS run good.. I can confirm that 8.1 seems to run Hot DAte without problems.
