    Sims Dying?

Not exactly what you think, but my question to the members of this forums is "Do You Think The Sims Is Dying?"

It could be better phrased as "Do you think The Sims is losing its popularity with the entire gaming community?"

    Voice your opinion :)

Wouldn't this be better as a poll?

    But my answer is yes.

Somewhat yes. TSO is new and it seems most registrerd user and more are playtesting. Especially as you can download it for free now. And - yes you can. Still. I'm not going to do it. I'll stick with you guys here. :classic:

I think it is for some but the hardcore sims ppls are still gonna always love it. But I also think that they should start getting more ideas for more expanison packs otherwise ot will eventually die out

Maybe Tender, but the game is really huge already and that makes it heavy to run for many computers. The minirequirements that says n the Sims original is way to low for all expansions. Unfortunately there are no upgrades on that whatsoever on any exp. pack. Not on mine anyway. *sighes* I haven't seen Holiday or unleashed yet (gonna wait buy them), but i sure hope there are upgrades on minirequirements there. 266mhz, 32 MB RAM.... that's what it says.. And I think we all know what simmasters and other experts says about it in chat and on BBS... Especially about RAM.
Anyway.. new exp. packs.. hehe.. I have had a real good laugh in chat with Drachelord about future packs.. not to talk about all patches. Actually there are trouble enough for people when they have to uninstall/reinstall the game to deal with more packs. Maybe one more...
I rather believe in a greater integration between Simcity and Sims. But it has to be a brand new way of approach than either of them for it to feel real new. That's what I think. I can also imagine exp.packs to Simcity4 in the future with new features and such. :classic:

True Tender, but it is only so far they can push before they start running out of ideas for The Sims.

What are they going to do? Create expansion packs for expansion packs?

I think that even without the expansion packs The Sims on it's own is great game. I suspect it'd still have a great following even if the expansions had never been released.

I do like the expansions, but they are too big. I'd be quite happy to add individual parts or features, one at a time, rather than bog down the pc with feature I rarely use.

But there is only so much life inThe Sims....which why they added Expansion packs..for more realism.

Yes, unfortunatly The Sims is dying :( . The expansion packs were just great. But now, they're getting repetitive. You can play for 1 month and after that, you stop... It's the truth, if you're playing the sims since a long time (me, for example, you don't wanna play more). If you started playing now, you won't suffer this too much... But it's the truth :(

I don't think it's dying yet! Not with being top game of the year, and getting tons more people INTO the gaming community that would never have become "gamers" without it. :) There's the beginning of integration(?) with Sim City 4, and then there's The Sims Online, it's not dying, it's changing. Also, I've heard talk of The Sims 2. That would be NOT an expansion pack! I think the sims are becoming more well known in just everyday real life. Which could be dangerous... (checks her color bars...) but fun!!

Well, you're right Fae, ;) but the game is getting a little repetitive, as no inovation comes to the game. I mean, they come, but not as the expected. There could be much more new stuff. The interaction with sc4 would be great ,and even greater the TSO game. New worlds will be open, but the same the sims will still be present. You know? Some inovation could pe present to change the same old game style. For example: Not just new objects. Weather effects, for example would be a perfect thing to change the old and repetitive style. But we must see what will happen. There are more to come (i'm sleepy, sorry if it sounds confused) ;)

even though with the integration attempt (not a pure one mind you) they moved into simcity 4 and redid the entire thing

During the entire sims movement, people were just crazy about it and they forgot completely about the simcity community.

I think so too Josh. Well Simcity 4 seems to be like a newer era anyway. And I doubt more huge expansionpacks for sims are the best solution. Its huge today. and the minirequirements on the original Sims are way too low. They don't specify any higher demands on the expansionpacks either. Not here anyway. Wich means that people might sit on 32 mb RAM and try playing!!. Scary!!
If they should add something new to Sims, it has to be more and better animations I think, like weather changes, develop this with farming, be able to visit familys in other neighbourhoods, more like that. And the timecount is a bit weird sometimes. They call their friends at 6 pm. They arrive at 8 pm... After 10 pm. the cop comes lol... A week count would benefit too. Then the sims can get a day off a week for example..
The question is how much more space such features would take? Not as much as before I hope...
Well. we'll see what the future will give us .. :classic:

I believe that The Sims is just getting old. I got it when it first came out, and it just lost it's magic after a month, if that. Now, with all the expansions, it's got a little bit more life, but they need to do something more drastic. I like the idea I had about the Music expansion set. Maybe expand on some of the careers, and have like, with a Sims Career Expansion, with Hospital Sims and News Reporter Sims... etc.. Maybe even an expansion of the Military Career.. a War Sims game...

    Holy crap. That would rule.

Music Sims and War Sims. I gotta start a website to get all this stuff down. Woo. War Sims. Sweet. Hehe. That would be so awesome. Hehe.

And.. uh... Yeah. Music and War.

I think weather, more possible sims interactions and activities, having a weekly counter with a day off each week, having sims age and change to look older, having sim kids GROW UP and move out, being able to walk or ride over to the neighbor's house and visit, would all be great things they could try coming out with in the sims game for the future! :) People would especially love things like vehicles the sims could RIDE! Imagine a street kids can ride bikes and skateboards and rollerskates in! ;)
