hmmm maybe we should get them a climbing tree.... but they seem to love climbing up on the back of the computer chair, I think they think that IS their climbing tree! We do have a small spray bottle of water that we spray them with when we catch them doing something really bad... I should try making the noisemaker too though, because sometimes they are doing bad things like trying to CHEW on ELECTRONICS wires, and water around that would be BAD!!!!
That could be a rather dangerous area. Nala is so funny, she is scared of a small two step ladder that we use to reach things. It is ok as long you don't move it, but once you pick it up, she runs off. She is soo funny. She is 9yrs old and doesn't run around much. She would rather sleep in your lap all day. :classic:
lol,i dont have a cat,but when i was tryin ta put up the tree a few days ago with my cousins,the base of the tree didnt look stable after we fixed but we juz carried on with the decoratin and then the tree fell lol,and me as usual being accident prone almot got stuck under that big tree,lol

Your kitty sounds sweet and peacefull Pokey! Sometimes I wish my kitties wanted to spend more time asleep in my lap... but they're all pretty young now, only about 3to 4 years old... maybe in a few years they'll slow down... I'm glad you DIDN'T get stuck under the big tree Tess!! yeeps!! I fell off a chair decorating a live christmas tree once... it was very exciting!! Nina I would LOVE plans to make a kitty tree!! I LOVE making stuff myself!! ...my poor hubby will just look at me and sigh... heh. He talked me out of making a new couch from scratch and no instructions..... I want to do it someday though!!

well... MY idea was to build the framework out of 2 by 4 lumber, making sure to have good support beams running through the middle both lengthwise and widthwise, because I HATED the old couch where the board in the middle widthwise POKED so you couldn't sit in the middle, and the rest of the couch sagged. Then I would get good sturdy canvas and staple that to the bottom, then get strong rope and string it back and forth through holes drilled in the wood so it had some give but like a hammock, for support, and THEN cover the back with lots and lots of quilting batting, using the staple gun again... and make cushions with the foam rubber cores and more batting wrapped around that... staple upholstry fabric on the back/sides/arms of the couch over the batting that SHAPES the couch, and cover the cushions with matching upholstery covers with zippers so you can take them off and wash them. That was my plan!! Does it sound like it could have worked???
ummm a fake one or a real one?? I saved a little pine tree in the front yard of my parents' house when it was a seedling, and it's my pet pine tree now... I supposed we could decorate it for christmas!!
I'm pretty sure I could figure out how to make my own fake christmas tree... I made my own ROSE TOPIARIES for my wedding decorations!!!

If I had to make one right now using what we've got around the house, I would use a broom handle for the base/center, and prop it up straight with boxes of STUFF.. and make the branches with coat hangers, wire, and green yarn for the needles!! Sort of like making giant pipe cleaners and duck taping them to the "trunk"
