    Something very weird

I noticed for quite some time that a problem keeps persisting..
Whenever i ask my sim to make a conversation with another sim from another house, it would have a bubble, a few minutes later, above the other sim's head. There would be a picture of a man and a woman in red, and the other sim would start to shake its head and groan some weird noise....
What can i do?? Due to this problem, it doesn't really like to socialise. PLEASE HELP!!

I think this may be happening to your sims because of social interaction repitition. Here's some information on it that I got from the Offial Prima The Sims: Hot Date Strategy Guide:

"In The Sims 1.0, you could build friendships with a simple formula of repetitive interactions. Now, Sims pay attention to what youve been doing and no longer accept repetitive cycles. In every 80-minute time period, a Sim responds fully to a given interaction only once. The second time it is initiated, the Sim is indifferent, and the changes in the Relationship score are halved. If you attempt to use the same interaction a third time in any 80-minute period, the subject Sim rejects the interaction, resulting in a hit to your Relationship scores. Note that some interactions will be tolerated a total of three times instead of only twice, but its better to avoid repetition altogether."

    I hope that helps. :)

Yes, they now remember what they just did and it is like they get bored with the same thing over again. :classic:

The official strategy guide ceased to be useful since the livin large expansion set

Actually, I've liked all the strategy guides up to The Sims: Unleashed. They must have been really lazy while working on that one: mostly all it has are descriptions of the new shopping areas in Old Town and a few tips that would have been easy to figure out on one's own. They didn't even bother to include an NPC list this time!

I never actually looked at any of the stratagey guides, but I saw them for sale in the stores next to the sims games... are any of the guides worth getting for help and fun?

I felt the livin large one was the most indepth...the rest seemed to lack much helpful hints for the game

They should have a combined book that tells players how to play with all the expansions

Now there's an idea. Only thing is, I have all of them. I mostly use them as a guide as to what objects came with each expansion. I also use the career lists. That is about all. The Unleashed one has helped back up what I was telling people on the Sims BBS. I didn't get the guide until I had figured most of it out already. :classic:

Especially with the adopting and breeding of pets. They suggest to have only one bed to encourage breeding, and it doesn't. The other pet will just sleep on the floor. I have never had two pets share one bed. And, they didn't go into detail what it takes to get more neighbors to show up in Old Town. I did the research on that myself. It is a direct connection to the amount of RAM you have and the number of neighbors you have created.

    RAM and visitors.

I agree with you Alapokey. I noticed some Hot Date lots had few vistors also. It depended on how object-crowded and complex the lots were, which I believe is all stored in RAM, thus sounds like your observations. I've seen people notice that the more NPC's they have, the less visitors they get. Do you notice any differences with CPU speed? Unleashed is the only EPack I have which is not good for a 233 system. It tends to make the game skip a lot of frames unless I run it all by itself, but not sure how it affects visitors. I've noticed about 3 families at a time at least partially present.

Yes I did find a direct link to the amount of ram and the number of total people in Old Town and Downtown. I have win98se and when I had only 128rambusram, the total number of NPC's, sims, and pets that you could have on one lot at a time in Old Town was 12. It was the same for every lot, every time. When I increased my rambusram up to 640, it rose to at least 17. I mostly researched Old Town, but had one other using what I had found out to do the downtown comparisons as he increased his ram and the outcome was the same there. :classic:
