    My Family keeps disappearing

I just bought The Sims Deluxe Edition (UK Version). When I try to move my newly created family into the neighbourhood my family disappears. It's not in the house nor is it in the family menu. I installed the official Deluxe Edition patch, but that doesn't make any difference. Original families will move in, but mine won't.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for your help.
    Gila.

It sounds like something is corrupt. Have you tried reinstalling?

    alapokeygirl Very much in LOVE

Here is what I would suggest. First, defrag and run scan disk on your computer to make sure all the files and things are in good order. I always do a reboot after this process. Now, reinstall the deluxe cd by puting it in your cd drive and click on the question mark on the main screen and then you will see reinstall. After doing this, try again. Good Luck.

    Thanks,
but I tried all that. I installed and reinstalled about 4 times by now, using Cleansweep. I went into the registry and removed any reference to The Sims (SC4 runs fine).
I even removed all the attributes on the files of The Sims and its subfolders.
Funny thing is, though, my family exits in the UserData folders. An d I can import my created Family into SimCity 4. Go figure!
And if I move in a default family I can't save the game.

Oh, and before I forget, after trying to move my family in (I can buy a house) I haven't got any money either.

By the way I'm running Windows XP. I've read that somewhere, that the Sims don't like it.

    Thanks. Gila.

    That's incorrect Gilap.

Windows XP does like The Sims. Windows 2000 doesn't.

There are no patches available to support Windows 2000.
