Record Temperatures in Europe Dang I've been hearing record temperatures all over Europe....40 degrees Celcius in London....higher in other places. Huge fires in Portugal, Italy.... Scary really.
I think that forty degrees is a little bit over the top. It wasn't quite that here - we are 60 miles from London - but it has been very hot. I don't like it. It is much nicer now - a bit cooler and a little chilly at night, good for sleeping. Forest fires are caused by people lighting fires or gas staves, etc, and not taking sufficient care - at least that is what I believe. It has been so hot we haven't been taking the dogs out in the middle of the day, but it is ok now. I am sure you have temperatures hotter than that in the U.S.A.
I wish I could to the calculations to translate celcius to ferenheight and vice versa, I have an idea of how hot or cold things are in ferenheight because that's the system our thermostat uses but I have no clue for celcius! (and no matter how I spell them it looks wrong to me too, I'm just having all sorts of problems here, haha!)
Some hint about celcius: 0 = water is freezing 37 = normal body temperatur 100= water's boiling A sauna here that's good has a temp around 85. Hottest here on my terrass this summer: 5 days with 36 in the shadow! It was hot. Thought the rabbits should die But noones died Good I built the cages as i did. And I'm in Sweden. Agree Philip. Can't walk the dogs in such heat. Have to wait until it cools off a bit.
If by body temperature you mean like when you take a persons tempterature with a thermometer to see if they have fever or something then that's 98 F so 40 C would be over 100 F! That sounds WAY too hot for someplace like London, I always thought of it as cooler temperatures and foggy a lot of the time! We get up in the 100-115 range sometimes in the summers and it's UNBEARABLE to be out in the sun for long! I'm glad your rabbits are ok Nina! :bunny:
oooh dear... I'm terrible at memorizing handy equations like that! I'm better at guestimates that leave out stuff like decimals...
I understand that Manchester United is the best football (soccer) team in the world? Do tell me if that isn't right. It was hot, here, only for a few days, but in France (200 or so miles away) it was a good deal hotter and 3,000 people died - I understand about half of that total can be attributed to the heat. The other 1,500 were just 'normal' deaths.
u think thats bad? well for the last two months its been over 105 degrees fahrenheit.... forgot what that is in celsius... dang AZ heat
I finally got curious enough to do the math on a calculator to learn that 40 C is equal to 104 F!!! yeeep! And depending on humidity and stuff the heat can be harder on the human body surviving it, I've learned that from living here in Texas, where I am is swampy and humid, and where I visit friends is drier, and the same temp up there feels MUCH better, haha. I hope there aren't a lot of deaths from the heat in Arizona around where you are lilfaeriegirl!
