    $50.00?

When I went to the Pre-order link,I saw that the game cost nearly 50 dollars.I don't know about you,but I was thinking that's sorta cheap and expensive at the same time.
50 bucks for the game? That's ok;I was preparing for the worst to be $100.
But 50 bucks for *a* game?Games usually got around 25 dollars.

Ah well, that's just Amazon.I find them cheap in some areas, and in others(like video games)they're not even considerable.Actually I've only bought 1 thing off of Amazon:a lanyard set.:surprised:

Does anyone think 50 dollars is alot for a game,or the game?I know it's so new it's not even out yet,but...some of us can't afford to play the better parts of the Sims.

FinalFantasy4ever Oh where in the world...

I dont think 50 is too much. As the technology is advancing the games will cost more and more. You should be glad that it's only 50 and not 100. Those who dont have that much (such as me) can always borrow (which I will lol)

Most of the computer games I'm seeing in the stores now are about $30-$40, some are $50-$60, so Sims 2 is priced about the same of other games like it that are coming out now.

To be perfectly honest, I would get the game if it cost $100...especially since I am rattling my brain trying to figure out it's release date alone...so y not satisfy my anticipation?!!!

    $50.00

In one of the chats Luc said that they were aiming for a "medium" price. $50 makes sense for that, considering it's the base for future expansions.

I paid that for Delux when I got it.

$50 isn't too bad (I'm guessing that's an American price though?). Here in Canada TS2 will be closer to $70 which will kind of bite since the others were around $40-50. :p

Australia, I'll see how cheap I can get it. :p SimCity4 cost me $80 + Rush Hour so about $130 in total. :surprised:

Amazon in the UK are accepting pre-orders for 24.99 pounds.

To me this seems very cheap - at current exchange rates it's around US$43.00

But it also seems "cheap" on the more mundane level of like for like eg:
US fed min wage :- $5.15/hr
    UK min wage :- £4.50 ( equivalent to US$7.70)

Of course exchange rates don't make folks "rich". For many purposes a pound buys in britland what a buck buys in the states. For example, for most of the 1990's a computer costing around $1000 in the USA would cost a thousand pounds in england (in other words ... expensive!)

Anyway ... it appears that the pendulum is swinging to favor our side of the "pond". Nevertheless it does seem unfair that Amercians will have to make 9 hours 42 minutes hours at minimum wage to play TS2 when we brits can enjoy the same game for a mere 5hr 33m :p

Although the federal minimum may be one thing, in various staes it is over $7 an hour. Also, people aren't just paid the minimum unless they are new workers, poor workers or part time workers. Most jobs tend to give raises pretty quickly if you are a good worker. (The exceptions are the ones like fast foods where they deliberately lay people off and get new ones, or keep people part time so that they don't have to pay them more.)

LOL... Ya Wal-Mart is pretty famous for laying off the experienced "time for a raise" employees to hire new ones who'll work for min. wage. It's really bad in the small city of Hood River that I live in (Oregon). This one day I was driving to work, and on the way there was the old man who looked homeless was holding a huge sign with bad lettering that said "Wal-Mart screws it's workers." LOL... poor guy, but he's not the only one, I hear people constantly telling me and my empoyees at the Dollar Tree about the stuff they've gone through working for Wally World. Kind of sad seeing how the East Coast Wal-Marts aren't nearly as bad as West Coast (or so I've heard/read)...

Hey, Pixie. You're just down the river from me. I'm in Vancouver (almost Camas).

I was thinking of McDonalds. They are famous for layoffs too.

    Speaking of which...

OH wow! sweet.... hey so then you probably know an answer to a question i have...
Is Charter still hiring, cuz the b/f was gonna put in a resume and try and get a job there.... lol... and I'm really tired of him being unemployed... :ermm:

    Sorry, I have no idea.

I know what you mean by being tired of someone being unemployed. My husband has been unemployed for 3 years now. If it weren't for his blacksmithing business and that we were both such good "squirrels" when we were both working, we'd be in a heep of trouble. (He's a software engineer. He used to work for Sharp, but quit there when I retired. He then went to work with a company up in Bellingham, where we were planning to move. But then the company had a major downsizing. Sigh. Fortunately, we hadn't sold our house or anything irreversible like that.)

The wall marts in my neighborhood got busted for hiring illegal aliens. I'm glad I wont have to work at that place.

Hmm, depends on where you live. My area for the most part is horribly hurting to find workers, so a lot of places are even breaking labor laws to hire illegal immigrants. Mcdonalds has a turnover rate you could not believe.

I think video games are a lot cheaper now. I remember back in the day when I had to pay 78 bucks for street fighter 2 for the SNES. Back then the norm for games was 50-80 bucks per game with an average of 60 bucks.

I'm a nerd I mean veteran gamer:p IN FinalFantasy4evers' sig the second group of Icons is Edgar, Cyan, Celes, and Tera from Final Fantasy 3/6 (anthology). lol I've also played tested a game for ensemble studios (age of myth). Got a VIP invite for the testing. Others had to win a drawing. Hopefully I'll work for a gaming company someday. :) Honestly, if there is a bug in a game I find it. That is just my luck! lol

It's great to meet a "veteran gamer" here! I'm SUCH a newbie to the whole thing! :p Maybe you can be the one here to start finding bugs in sims 2 when it comes out and teach us how to work around them while EA makes a patch..... ;)

I love Age of Mythology!!! Hehe... I was so happy when I started whoopin' 1800 people... lol... but then again, I learned from a master of multi-tasking. Anyhoo... You could say I'm a "veteran gamer" too, except I'm not that old,... but I have been playing since I was like 6. The first game I was introduced to was PacMan on Atari... I was such a video game hogger than! I was soooo young then too... ever since then I've been a gamer addict fo sho... games ranging from Tomb Raider, to Tekken, Street Fighter... ah man.... Sims of course, the list is huge. Well there's my blog for the day hehe.
