I just got 3D Studio Max! One of my friends is moving on to other things and gave me their 3D Studio Max, but without any instructions or telling me how they did things with it!! So I'm all excited, but LOST! I have Milkshape 3D and did some meshing there, but had a hard time selecting the points I was aiming for and moving them where I wanted. Does anyone here use 3D studio max well enough to give me a few starter tips? I tried to mess with it before when I was at another friend's house YEARS ago... but I was lost... and she was frustrated trying to make a table with it... Anyway, I'm all excited but LOST so I hope someone here will know something or be able to point me in the right direction with urls for tutorials or something. Wish me luck!!
Is 3D Studio Max not very similar in look and layout gmax? We're using 3D Studio Viz at uni and it's practically identical to gmax, aside from a few extra functions.
my advice is to just play around with it. once you get the hang of it, its very easy to do simple stuff like tables. heck, i can do a glass top and 4 legs in about 30 seconds flat if i wanted a sloppy job. give me a minute and its clean looking. btw, heres some of my work: http://www.pokeradio.com/school/comp_graphics/
It took me a little while to find the pictures of the 3d stuff but I loved the road, and computer in the corner table, and the other room pics. I guess I just need to chain myself to the computer all day and resist the urges to check email and forums etc. and FOCUS on learning the program, haha!
Very cool table. amazing really. Do you have to use emat equations to do something that that or just start drawing?
whats an emat equation? nope. just started modelling. that was all done with simple 3dsmax primitives.
