Why can't i combine Expansion packs.

Hello,

i've got the sims (original), house party, hot date, living large... how come i can't combine them? i've tried installing them to one directory, but it doesn't seem to like it... CAN you acctually combine them? or is it not possible? 'cause i think it would be really cool if you could...

when it's installing it does come up with a little window that says setting up registry, but it still doesn't work. am i suppose to have all the expansions set up in one directory (eg c:\the sims) or am i suppose to install into seperate directories (eg c:\the sims\house party, c:\the sims\hot date, etc etc) or can they be anywhere on the computer?

and another thing, i've just got the living large expansion, but when i installed it (after frigging ages) i have nothing different in the game, yet the folders have heaps more things... like robot skins etc... what's happened there?

ey... that i did. is there hope? what can i do?

please don't tell me that i should go out and buy one... becaues quite simply i can't afford it...
