error installing content packages.. hey.. When i try to install the content package (the one from the sims2 site), i'm getting an error saying; $file is not a valid Win32 application (where $file is the path)... Nyone got a clue? Thanks, Vlad (btw, tried reinstalling the editor, redownloading, etc)
Hummm... idunno, i'm having trouble with the content pack too... i'll download it, and unzip it and all, but it doesn't seem to install. I did check the sims site, and it mentioned that i should make sure body shop isn't running and try re-installing it. So i did, and it still didn't work, so i've removed both body shop and the content pack and am trying all over *sigh* i want to play!!:-D!!! Good luck!
did you get bodyshop properly installed? im guessing you did, but this is really the only thing i can think of at the moment.
It seemed to install well for me, but i'm reinstalling everything again anyways... the content pack is taking forever! even over highspeed! Ooo! Eureka! It works! Well, i'm off!
Oooh I looked at the thumbnail you attached and I see that somehow it has a . in the name of the file, that makes it think that anything AFTER that . is the file extension type! It needs to have .exe or .zip at the end, not .sim2skin You might try renaming it by taking the . out and adding .exe at the end, if it was supposed to be an executable file you downloaded, or .zip at the end if it was supposed to be a zipped/compressed file. I hope you can get it to work!
Did it still work when you opened BodyShop? The packages of Sim Information which are exported all come with the new .sims2skins file type. It's a self installing file (assuming you have BodyShop.) Make sure that you *don't* have BodyShop running when you install, or you might have to reinstall it after you've taken out the oops. I've installed a number of these and they seem to work great. (There is already a lot of custom content out there. It's amazing how much in just the first few days.)
Where are you finding all your custom content? So far I've only gotten a couple of user made outfits, and a couple of starter sets from game websites listed as links from the official sims 2 site.
bodyshop download i am struggling to get my bodyshoo installed. when i install it from the ea site, when i click on the installer part it says "some files are corrupt, try reinstalling" or something of that nature...also, i cant download the pack from gamespot...it jsut doesnt download! i'm so upset!
Don't give up! I'm pretty sure that once the rush dies down some you should have a good chance of getting it, just check back every once in a while to see how the waiting lines are.
I'm sad to say you might have to re-download if it's saying the files are corrupt and can't install. You might try using a download manager if you have a slow or interrupted download messing it up too. Try a search at download.com for a free or trial version of a download manager if you don't have one already. And good luck! I hope you get it to work!!
i have redownloaded it at least 3 times. its very frustrating. im going to try to go to download.com like you said, ill tell you if it works
I believe I got the file safelty at my 9th or 10th time. Average waiting time at gamespot is 180-250 minutes so far...
i got it to work!!!!!!!! thanks so much for recommending getting a download thing...but im kinda dissapointed again bc i still cant get the pack from gamespot, i got the one on the sims 2 site, but now i need the one from gamespot
Whoohoo! Glad you got it to work loveableminime! Sorry you still can't get the gamespot pack though, but you can start making your own stuff now, right?
At least you have something to work with while your Gamespot one is downloading. It's a pity that they don't let you just download the "extra" stuff separately from the starter pack and BodyShop tool on both Gamespot and FilePlanet. There are only a few things in each that are extra over the Sims2 pack, but you still have to wait for the whole thing to download when you just want those few things. I wasn't that interested in the "meshes" which were extra with those, so I didn't ask my husband to download them for me (at a friend's house since we have nasty dialup.)
