If you are using a Windows-based o/s, you can do a screen capture just by pressing SHIFT+PRINTSCREEN buttons on your keyboard. You then you open up a graphics-based program, start a new blank document and "paste" your screen capture there which can then be saved or resized to whatever format/size you want.

    I hope this helps!

My copy of LE was *not* 100% functional. It wouldn't let you crop and it had no lasso tool. (You could use the circle type or the square type, but lasso was greyed out.) I think mine, which came with one of my other Adobe products as I had PageMaker, Acrobat (the full version) and Illustrator, was even more "stripped down" than usual. It certainly didn't do what the Photoshop 5.0LE manual said it could do! (I have 5.5 now. It works like it should and was given to me by someone who had just bought the CS suite and didn't need it anymore.)

You don't need Photoshop. A lot of the others do a fine job for doing custom content art. Photoshop is just the "industry standard" (which also means that it is the most expensive too!)

There are even free ones (like GIMP, which is supposed to be similar to Photoshop) as well as Corel (both the Painter 8, which is the newest version, and the older Photo-Paint) and Paint Shop Pro.

I use a combination of them. Mostly I use my Painter 8 because I find it most "intuitive" for me. But for some things I use other programs. For example, I use the free Infraview for doing the embossing of the texture maps. I use my Photoshop 5.5 for doing color shifts where I want a specific color. Then I usually put everything back into Painter to finish them off.
